One of the Thunderbirds Obs.... Great photos steephill My Dad was deaf in one ear from birth, and had poor hearing in the other, which gradually got worse. He wore a hearing aid in that ear pretty much all his life. He was a very determined man - especially when his mother told him he'd never be any good as a musician.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Chinooks come over here quite often. Sometimes they have to go up a bit to get over the chimney. Plates fall off the shelves in the kitchen - never mind rattling. We get Hercules going over regularly too. OH got very excited earlier this year though when 4 'Ospreys' went over us in formation (planes, not birds - I'd have been more excited by the birds, especially if they were in formation). Never seen one before, let alone 4.
Where I used to live near Truro, we'd get sea kings and wessex helicopters coming over low all the time to land at Treliske hospital just up the road from us I remember the evening Concorde boom from then, as well. Though we also used to hear blasting at Wheal Jane mine before it closed and sometimes it was hard to tell which was which.
The day of Concorde's last flight, everyone from the office where I worked near Bristol walked the mile or so down the A38 (which was closed for the event) to stand at the end of the runway at Filton and watch her come in to land for the last time.

We saw one of Concorde’s very first test flights over Britain ... we were driving somewhere on holiday ... I was very young but I can remember how excited Pa was. He talked about it for years afterwards.
But im snuggling down now so Sweet dreams all ...
