I bought a few Bramleys in the English shop on Friday.  Just enough to make a couple of crumbles for OH.   Can't get them here.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

  • It's plums all the way here.  Just picked the last few pounds, and the little tree seems to be breathing a sigh of relief; hope the bowed branches recover, otherwise I'll need to have a think about a method of staking it.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Frosts during the Beast got most of our blossom and the birds got any fruit that did form.   Not bothered tho as they're all Mirabelle which is far too sweet for us.  We like 'em a bit more tart as that makes better crumbles and cobblers.

  • Ours are Victoria, Obelixx.  Lovely combination of bitter skin and sweet flesh.

Mucho plums here too - Victorias.  Had a good crop of opals about a month ago too.  First Lord Lambourne apples are in (windfalls, those on the tree seem to want to wait a while longer) .....my favouritest apple 🍎😋.  Autumn raspberries a bit thin though .....can’t win ‘em all 🍇

    Evening all.
111/2 hours today. A bit showery but it's been a decent day. Breaks, lunchtime and no great rushing between customers. Everyone was happy which makes a huge difference.
Hubby has made chili con carne. Not had it in ages.
I don't like these dark evenings though.
    Devon.

My plum jam is made with Victorias - will be tasting it imminently.
I love having apple trees - they make the garden complete and provide lovely fruit to cook with. I wonder if I could squeeze a Plum tree in somewhere...

Just catching up on Bodyguard -it is so good, I had to pause it to type this.

I hope you all ok and had a decent Sunday.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

I don't grow plums LP - don't really like them. I grow apples - loads of those - although I'm not that keen on them either    :D
Gave some to ex hubby, birds will get some, and I'll take some to work for the horses.
Managed a good bit of tidying behind the shed this afternoon once it stopped raining, although there were some cracking downpours and leaden skies. Not too warm with the wind, but fine if you were grafting. It's only 11 just now when I went to put the hog food out. The birds get really peed off with me when I'm busy around the shed because they want to eat amd I keep disturbing them. Once I came in to do the dinner - they were at the feeders like a plague of locusts, shoving each other out the way :)
Bodyguard is very good AuntyR - next episode on soon!
Hope you had a better day Yvie, and got some outdoor stuff done. Always helps  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
