One more Concorde story. I used to work in Surrey at a garden centre and every night Concorde flew overhead. One of my colleagues pointed out one night that it looped "The Okham Beacon" before carrying one. "That's the pilot letting his wife know he's coming straight home. If he goes in a straight line, he's going to be late. She used to watch from her window each night he was flying so she knew when " to put the tea on"
27C here. Did a bit of sunbathing while waiting for OH to come out with the car keys after Sally's tracking and balancing. SM raid accomplished with ease. Lovely fresh sardine fillets, Julienne fillets and a whole hake I need to go and sort out as soon as I've had a decaf.
Lovely fresh fruit and veg too tho no pink Roscoff onions but I can get those locally.
10 jars of green tomato relish done and 2 of dried toms. Just finishing the yellow tom passata then off to dance class. I like Thursdays.
Saw that item on the Welsh letter. Some service companies just seem determined to shoot themselves in the foot thru idiocy and ignorance. Have also watched reports form the Grenfell enquiry. Utterly unbelievable how that cladding could be passed for building use. What were they thinking?

Obelixx - I'm starting to think they're going to make the fire service the scapegoat for Grenfell. They've already determined [ early on ] that the cladding shouldn't have been used on a building that height, because, if on fire, it can't be reached by hoses/firemen from the ground. It should only have been used up to a height of around 30 feet. It was apparently clearly described on the manufacturer's site. Whoever passed that for use, is/are the one[s] who are responsible. Usual story - price.
We can only dream of 27. Not even half that here. Nice and fresh though and the sun's out so everything should dry out a bit. Looking steady for tomorrow too, so I should get more sawing and screwing together of hog house after work. I'm thinking, not Hog Mansions, or Tiggywinkle Towers, but, since the girls are Harry Potter fans, it has to be Hog-warts....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Done all my jobs (eek - apart from finishing putting new bedding on - oops forgot!) plus made apple cakes for the Macmillan cake sale in work tomorrow. I’ve been doing a hedgehog hotel too @Fairygirl, although mine is more of a creative shelter rather than a proper build. I’ve used an old pallet, logs, roof tiles and a broken cold frame - hope to finish that on weekend as time has run away today.
Sounds good AuntyR. Perhaps they'll take a shine to it and hibernate. Lovely if they do. I've got a couple of pallets too, and I'll need a bit of the timber to finish the floor of the entrance/feeding station bit which will adjoin the hibernation bit. Kind of 'en suite facilities'

I haven't seen a hedgehog in the garden for a few years. Always had them before squirrels came on the scene. Any idea if squirrels would attack them? It's been very warm and sunny this afternoon after a dull morning so garden bin has been filled for going out tonight.
I don't think they'll get away with blaming the fire brigade FG although the decision to advise people to stay in their flats was clearly very wrong. It's also very clear that someone, somewhere authorised the cladding and shouldn't have. I hope they and their bosses get hung out to dry along with the people that make it. It's also clear to anyone with any sense that fire brigades in cities need equipment that can get them to the upper levels of tall buildings as well as training in how fires behave in such buildings. personally, I don't think it should be built if it can't be fire proofed - as if that's going to happen - or fire managed.
Love the sound of Hog-warts and your hotel is probably very welcome too AR. We've seen 2 here this summer and fed them but one of them ended up dead so I think was sick. I expect we have enough shelter for them in the barns under piles of branches OH is supposed to be shredding and piles of bags of leaves but a proper hedgepig mansions would be good to have.
4 jars of orange tomato, onion and basil passata potted up to add to the 11 of green tom relish. I refuse to process tomatoes tomorrow. Need to play outside with pots and babies.
