Was always said that if you wanted to start an argument, ask three gardeners the best way to make compost.

Yes, but no holidays or weekends away? Methinks he loves his gooseberries more than his wife!

Next point, how come Monty's mower cuts up the stuff? Mine (which as far as I can see is exactly the same one as he uses, just runs over the stuff and does nothing to it, no matter what setting I have the blades set to.

Maybe that's why he bought a chipper or maybe he was just more brutal with his mower.

Is competitive growing large vegetables  a northern thing like whippets ,flat hats, pigeons and tripe?
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Keep up B3!  Gooseberries are fruits.

You forgot black pudding throwing, clog dancing and northern bagpipes which are not like the Scottish ones.

As we travel further north, there's such delicacies as deep fried mars bar and deep fried pizza in batter. They are strangely tempting after a few jars, in the way that nobody ever eats a doner  kebab whilst sober.

I love the Northumbrian Bagpipes, much better than the Scottish ones.
