No wonder his wife hates them 🤪
I'm getting a 'feel' for the gooseberry segment now!
Perhaps she hates him too chicky  :D

Can’t fault Monty on his compost making. we do the same.
as Dove says, you can have it ready in 2 months or you can wait for it in a year.
Dont watch it anymore but the gooseberry bit sounds exciting, may watch it just for that😀

I almost laughed out loud at the old boys and their flippin gooseberries. Not a single mention of what they actually taste like, or even if they're ever eaten, just weight.
All that faffing about with scales and " penny weights and grains" why not just weight them on modern electric scales. What a kerfuffle.
The expression " for gods sake , get a life" sprung to mind. Harmless but more than a little bit over the top IMHO>
Just a bit of harmless British eccentricity.  I did also smile at how seriously it is all taken.  The judge calling out the weight in 'pennyweight' and 'grains'.  It's the way it has always been done, and I expect it to remain the way they will always do it.  Why should they change to using digital scales?  They are doing nobody any harm so leave them be.

I would mow or shed twiggy, shrubby stuff if I had the space. It makes total sense. To be fair, he Monty does touch on composting a lot and often emphasises that you can just bung green and brown stuff in a bin, and how great the process is

It is a common complaint of newbies, that they but a load of dry, shrubby, twigginess in a pile with some leaves and moan that nothing is happening after a year.

And, no, Monty can't win. People complain that he has a hole in his jumper, or the advice is too basic or too advanced or his jumper's too posh; GW is too much about veg and bananas or foreign climes or too many dogs, or not enough about roses. It's a tough gig.

I loved the whole weighing thing.  Long may it continue.
