    Evening- everyone out??

Very heavy ‘sky burst’ earlier - I couldn’t believe the sheer volume of water! My pond is full to the brim - first time since start of the year. Hope nobody having floods or other issues.

Just had ‘ curry half and half’ - yum!

Watching the athletics and eating our first sweet corn of the season ... soooo good 😋

Yum - fresh sweet corn 🌽
Dusk has brought the bats out here... and the slugs! Come on hedgehogs...
The garden looks so clean and fresh after the rain.

Our sweetcorn is rubbish this year.  Same as last year with twisted, dried up kernels but the added attraction of a gall on half the cobs which renders them inedible even if the rest of the cobs were OK.    Shan't bother again.   Fortunately the potatoes and tomatoes more than make up for that failure and we have good courgettes and a promising pumpkin crop on the way plus melons and cucs.

We have bats too but I only ever see one at a time.    Too cloudy tonight to enjoy stars but no rain in view.

We had our first sweetcorn this year too this evening. OH came back from Sandhurst via EasyJet and Bordeaux earlier this evening. We sat outside to eat then son 1 and DIL joined us when the little GDs had settled, they were tired but were difficult to put to bed.

I used to find that the more tired they were the more difficult it was to get them to bed 😉
Night night all ... sweet dreams 🐑😴

I love sweet corn. I don’t grow it anymore because of the grubs getting in. Just as easy to buy it from Aldi. Mind you, my effort to grow without the use of pesticides is probably negated by what the commercial growers must do to have grub-free cobs. 🤪
    Have a good sleep everyone.

Good morning all 🙂 Gday Pat 🙂
overcast and still this morning ... our builder is popping by at some stage this morning to look at a window that won’t shut properly ... no idea what time as he’ll come on his way to the builders merchants up the road, but we’d better not linger in bed too long today ‘cos if we do you can guarantee he’ll be early 😊
