PA - mine isn't a phobia.  Just a dislike.  I now find I can rescue worms when I'm planting or re-potting or find them in a puddle and I can move slugs to a squishing surface.  If they're just to oozy and slimy, I pick them up with a trowel.

There must be some cognitive behaviour therapy for your problem.

I've read somewhere recently that the big black spiders in the house are sprinters, not long distance runners and they literally get out of breath.  So if you just wait until they stop running, then you can get them.  Another tip is to spray all your skirting boards with antibacterial spray as they don't like that and that's easy and cheap to do.  Also I've noticed that since we had the whole house painted, including the woodwork, over a year ago, we've hardly seen any spiders at all, so presumably they don't like the smell of new paint either.

We have painted too and no difference. They always reach the safety of under something before they run out of puff too.

How strange PA that fresh paint didn't make any difference to your problem, when it seems to have with ours. Maybe they're fussy as to which brand of paint.
