Good stuff, Joyce!  Not rude, just factual.   :D

    Hi folks.

We're back to hot sun this morning - better for picking the raspberries (don't need full waterproof gear) but otherwise a bit tedious.  I was enjoying the drizzle and average temperatures of the past few days.

OH is off to Scotland today, for a week on his own in the cottage, to write music and lyrics.  I'll join him on Monday week for a few days.  Forecast promises heavy rain this weekend - useful for refilling our rainwater storage tanks - and maximum temperatures 17-18, with a bit of sun, thereafter.  Sounds good to me...   :)

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Our storms have gone away along with the showers due over the next few days.  Going to wall to wall sun and scorchio.  Hope our visitors like it.

Been to a vide-greniers this morning and bought 2 baskets - one good for harvesting potatoes and the other for courgettes and stuff.   OH found a chap selling double ended bolts which he's going to try and use to fix our mower and some metal hoop thingies for holding weed-proof membrane and some bargain gardening gloves - 6 pairs for 5€.   Home for coffee and then off to another one in the other direction and then gardening.

If I get OH to strim our summer raspberries back to ground level and then I feed and water them will they be OK?   It's a very congested strip about 5m x 1 that we found when he was strimming the long grass.  Tasty raspberries but a bit teeny so they need renewing.

Obelixx, I have an idea that they only fruit on 2 nd year stems, so if you cut them down you might not get any fruit for another year..  you could probably check with an expert, though.

I was hoping they'd regrow quickly and be ready for fruiting next year.

For Raspberries, Just take out all stems that have had fruit on. Use sharp secateurs, cut as low as you can. Leave any canes that are new this year.

I said it last year and i will say it again. It is not good enough for the cup for the wheelchair tennis to be presented by a "member of the committee". Not when there were three duchesses in the vicinity. Surely one of them could have nipped down and handed it over.

Thanks FB but it's a dense thicket full of weeds too and they've been neglected and left to their own devices for at least 4 years so no way to get in there and discriminate between old and new.

I enjoyed the curry evening last night, but more for the company and the lovely view than for the food.

    Having a quiet day.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
