Good morning everyone. Bit late but I've been reading whilst cuddling a pussycat. Just having second coffee to get me going. Strong sun again today so getting mucky till about midday then getting clean for other appointments including a meeting at the Mairie early evening to discuss an extension to the local quarry.
Is there a website for tracing ancestors or do you need pay for birth certificates and trawl through the Census records?
Hosta - at least some of them are working to fund repairs to the damage but yes, shocking and stupid and brainless. Whatever happened to social awareness and responsibility?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all. part 2. @chicky when No1 daughter lived in Godalming, Jezza Hunt handed her a leaflet on the high st, she said " the only thing I want from you , is your resignation" That's ma girl. Best 70th pressy for NHS, his departure. It's cloudy now. how odd.
I've just spent 35 minutes 'on hold' to a company, only to find that I'm still at Key Postion 2 in the queue .... I have better things to do with my time ... I've emailed them and hope that they check emails
Glad the Chicklets are having fun
Lots of people resigning ... makes me hopeful that my turn to be "in charge of everything" must be coming closer
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all. Cooler here today and a very pleasant temperature for sleeping last night. No sign of any rain in the forecast though. The boiler broke down the other day and I've become suprisingly keen on freezing cold showers! The first one was a bit of a shock, but we've all got used to it - very bracing :-). Bit of a mystery fault - boiler chap has referred me on to an electrician.
There are lots of family history websites, Obxx. The two main ones are Ancestry and Find My Past. Both charge, but most public library services in the UK offer free access (not that that's much good to you). I've used both quite a lot, for work and for myself. I also got a lot from Genes Reunited a few years ago - helped me get back to the 1500s for one branch of the family.
Beautiful skies, Pat. Hope you get a good night's sleep.
Chicky, you have my sympathies regarding your MP. Who he is, I mean, not what his new job is.
We are guinea pig sitting this week. They're rather endearing.

I used Ancestry.co.uk. I joined for a year and set to, to go as far back as I could. 1055. Really. Ughtred de Merclesden,1055-1105, whose descendants include the Marsden family of Baslow. I guess his family came over with Willy the Conqueror. From them I am distantly related to Jerry Marsden of Jerry and the Pacemakers, and Halle Berry the actress, whose grandparents came from Derbyshire. I used censuses as far back as they go, and then you need Parish Records for Baptisms, marriages and burials.
Three more boys out of the cave in Thailand.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think Elon Musk is just getting in the way of people who know what they are doing?
Just watched the Air Force 100 flypast. Impressive ending. Lots of cever chaps and chapesses involved. Well done.
Have spent the previous hour or two decamping temporary potting and rust treating station for the garage to the party barn so we can get Harry back under cover. Jolly hot out there.
Have to go and get clean for meetings now. Haven't seen any news but so pleased everyone is out of the caves. Amazing collaboration and thank goodness the Thais were clever enough to call in experts early on.

What a relief, and such bravery by all concerned, not least , those children who must have been terrified. I've just stopped from being all butch. I've been cutting down trees. Nothing thicker than my thigh but macho nonetheless.
