There is no hope for you, Hosta, but then you don't care so it doesn't matter. Thank goodness we are all different.
Indeed so. Folk at work say things like " But it's the National Team!!!! " I ask if they're interested in the National water polo / chess/ formation dance teams. It usually elicits blank stares.
I'm the least competitive person alive. If I knew any of the particpants personally, I'd care, but as I don't know them, I fail to understand why other folk do care.
I know, I'm odd, but I revel in my own personal oddness.
Rasta has been deposited. No vet's nurses here so I got to hold her while he did the shave and inserted the needle and initial anaesthetic. She is such a drama queen when she's not being a butch tomboy.
Now to go and "shave the meadow" before the mower is taken away for a repair and service and then some mucky weeding.
Storms forecast for this evening with rain and lots of wind. Heard that one before.

I'm not at all competitive personally, but I love to watch people who are good at something doing what they do best ... I've not watched a lot of football over the past few years (probably 20 years come to think of it) although I used to watch a lot of it, both amateur and professional ... this World Cup I thought I'd watch the first England match just to give it a try and was so chuffed to see interesting attacking football from lads whose names I was scarcely aware of, rather than the boring defensive stuff of recent years from people who were more interested in being celebrities than being footballers. Now I'm hooked again. But probably not for long.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I love that gardening is non competitive and has been hugely important for calming me down over the years. In almost everything else, I am ultra competitive. In my working life, my competitiveness was I believe positively harmful to my health and was one of the reasons why I started taking trips to war zones, where I found an entirely different attitude was necessary.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@Lyn, I don't even PLAY board games. @punkdoc I'd say I'm "self competitive" if there is such a term , inasmuch as I want my garden to be nicer than last year, and constantly plan who it'll be even nicer next year. Whether it's nicer, or not as nice as others is of no concern.
Not interested in football either, though don't mind if others are (as long as they don't live with me ). I enjoyed other people's enjoyment of the game last night, and can't help feeling pleased for Gareth whatsit for breaking the penalty curse.
I've posted some photos of Hampton Court on the thread I started: https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/1015634/hampton-court-flower-show-2018 and hope Liri and Chicky will also do so after their visits today. I didn't go into the big set piece gardens - the evolution one or the WW1 one as there were queues in the sun and it was far too hot to be standing and baking. Hopefully one of them will have gone in - it's a little bit cooler today.
Obxx, it wasn't Liri who'd bought loads of stuff, it was me - so not so far to travel to get things home! It was mainly bulbs (lilies, alliums, fritillaries - there are really good suppliers there, I've bought some in previous years and they've been great) so not difficult to transport in a rucksack anyway. Just a couple of very small hardy geraniums, a couple of rather special lavender plants and a Sanguisorba 'Chocolate Tip' which needed slightly more careful treatment, but all very manageable. Plus some easy to carry plant supports. And I didn't even go to the Plant Village!
