We had some rain last night, not today. Hot day.

President Macron visited Périgueux yesterday and Sarliac-sur-l'Isle today, 4kms from me and where 2 of my children went to primary school. Didn't feel like standing in a crowd in 33° heat waiting for him. Went to lunch with daughter 2, taking a different route to avoid the village. I suppose, for many of the French, it's like a visit from the Queen. Or maybe not. B-

Liked the visit to Tatton Park ... thought some of the gardens were a little lightweight but I imagine the budgets are much smaller than at Chelsea.

Absolutely loved the orchids from the zoo  B)

Bees were very much in evidence at Tatton.
Interesting to hear the ideas of the young designers and see their gardens.

Just read back from the day - 50 odd posts!
I decided to turn a waiting for a delivery day into a good excuse just to plonk down the garden and chill. Tomorrow will be busy as littlest neice coming over for ‘sleep-over’. I have some small terracotta pots left over so I have bought a tray of Dianthus and thought we could make up a few of those. Other activities on offer: picking flowers to press, wildlife safari, making a den, teddy bear’s picnic, paddling pool... that’s all guaranteed to bring on the rain then!!

Hope you all ok and looking forward to the weekend.

What a brilliant Aunty you are :) and how lucky is your niece?

Today OH came home and we ate my first ever home grown spuds, a few home grown peas, several home grown courgettes... and some bought salad because I never got round to sowing any and then the drought began! Most delicious. He's disappeared to bed with jetlag now.

Not watched GW or any Tatton yet but might do so this evening.

I try to do nature and gardening stuff with my nieces @LG_  , learn as you play and all that. I like to think that it will be some nice memories for them, just as I have from my Grannies, Aunty and Mum. I haven’t done much veg growing this year but it’s great to hear when you guys feast on the homegrown goodies.

Just catching up on Versailles and then will iPlayer Tatton in bed probably.
