Joyce - I'd wait till evening and sprinkle anyway or else be grumped at all day. Don't like to see stuff looking limp and I may need the sprinkler for the potatoes and sweetcorn this evening if the promised rain hides again. Like Hosta, having spent money on plants and compost and time on weeding, soil improving and planting, I water my treasures tho I do pay for it thru metering.

Our water is neither privatised nor metered (included in Council Tax) and I have been soaking the garden once a week with the hose. Even my rhodos, long established, were drooping.
It seems our water is managed by a public company owned and run by the Vendée province. Seem to be doing OK - efficient so far and cheaper than in Belgium where there's so much more rain. Clean too as ours comes from a local reservoir.

Seems that we have two first time posters requesting and providing information about a sale on lawnmowers ... what a coincidence!!! Just how naive do they think we are? Flags are going up .......

We have spits and spots and thunder now. That's what you get for sprinkling but still having the washing burbling away in the machine. Would really like a proper downpour.

Well, we've had our downpour with a light and sound show that was exciting enough to cut our leccy and stop the weather thingy recording how much rain we've had. Helpful! It's also driven OH off his golf course so he's watching the Tour de France.
Having got a bit wet, our forecast has changed and this evening's downpours have gone away and none expected for 8 more days which is fine, but I'm off to Namur next Monday leaving him in charge of watering for a week.
