Boredom?   Ignorance?  Stupidity?  Lack of parental guidance/control/interest in their offspring's activities and behaviour?

Lack of respect, lack of discipline, lack of the cane at school, lack of the village bobby with his glove full of dry beans and probably the lack of Borstal the birch and being hauled into court. We cannot do anything that may harm the little darlings or they will never grow up to be football hooligans.

and there's basically no way to police those areas so there's not much risk of getting caught for it. The fire service do outreach programs in schools around here which probably help more than the 'no arson' signs that they put up that all promptly got burnt.

The annoying thing for me is that I cleared quite a few bags of litter off that hillside in the early spring. I guess it's better that it got recycled rather than burned though. I took this photo up there in December. Where I was stood is pretty mush the centre of the fire. Grass fires don't do too much damage but to the left is a valley full of ancient oak and beech that is irreplacable habitat. Most of those trees locally were cut down for pit props and firewood and never replaced. The wind turned just as it reached it luckily.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

     :(  Horrible...

May I change the subject, please?
Does anyone here drink shampoo?  Because if so, you'll be delighted to discover that Herbal Essences Bio Renew shampoo is advertised as being gluten free.   :D

I thought they all were.  I can't see gluten being harmful to hair anyway.  Excuse me, I'm just off to wipe my head with a slice of bread and see if I can save money on haircuts.  I only ever smoke low-fat cigarettes and run my car on lactose-free petrol.

And would it matter to a coeliac if they weren't?
