" I'm staying indoors today so I'm not tempted to rip off the head of some poor soul who politely asks me something."

I too have "don't leave the house" days when I am public liability.

I'm being woken every night by the neighbour's son who has recently fitted a very loud exhaust and likes to rev loudly up the street at 4am.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Mr Edges, those foul fiends have a special circle of hell dedicated just for them. I am surrounded by boy racers who rev, race and do wheelies from 2-4am on specially souped up bikes. Most nights I lie in bed totting up the number of people in our echoey valley that the bstrds are disturbing. Several thousand people all told, I should say.  Every night.

    That sounds excellent, Pansyface.

The best, most refreshing sleep I remember having was next to a waterfall in Finland.  Lovely white noise and a gentle warm breeze...

Oh dear.  This contribution isn't very curmudgeonly.  Sorry, I'll try better next time...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I'm find a on fan in the bedroom is sorting out a load of ambient noise problems. It's covering trains, helicopters, rowing neighbours, zoomers and student partiers opposite. Also low level ambient music helps.
