I'll just be eternally grateful that my missus didn't end up looking like her mother. The old baggage had to park her broomstick outside when she visited.
Can I add virtually all cosmetic ads . I'm sorry ladies, but why do any of you buy this stuff? " Mascara lenghtens eyelashes by 73%" was one which set me off years ago. ( then it was banned ) Ellie Goulding does a shampoo add " in 3 minutes it visibly removes up to 3 months worth of damage" How? Where is the scientific data to back that up? I used it once and I swear it only took off about a month and a half worth of damage. dDn't even start me on the " fights the 7 signs of ageing " rubbish!! GULLIBLE CONSUMERS!!!!!!!
@Hostafan1 , I'm intrigued by the continuous advance in men's razors, each of which claims to shave closer than the one before. If these claims were true, the difference by now must be the length of whisker that takes five seconds to grow, so why would anyone bother? I left off using makeup when I was 19, and my only toiletries are soap, shower gel, toothpaste and lip balm.
As a child of the ‘60’s I wouldn’t even put the dustbins out without my make up on and doing my hair everyday. I always use a face moisturiser, my next door neighbour was still putting on a bit of eye shadow and lippy at aged 90, she said it made her feel young.

There's always a new amaaaazing ingredient in make up/face cream/shampoo that's going to make you instantly look 50 years younger. In one advert some years back, the new magic ingredient was 'boswellox' and, along with 'than what?', that is now the standard response in this house to those ads.
"It makes your teeth up to 50% whiter". "Than what?". "Put this night cream on and when you wake up your skin will be revitalised and you'll look radiant" (as a 15 year old wearing 2 inches of make up apparently wakes up with perfect hair and none of the make up on the pillow). Altogether now "BOSWELLOX"
There's also a washing powder ad which states it makes your whites up to 4 shades lighter. Much like the question about toothpaste - 4 shades lighter than what and how is 1 'shade' measured.

I've not really liked any adverts since Uncle Guber. A tough act to follow.
