I've been feeding, watering and pruning my gooseberry bush for five years and have yet to find any babies under it.  How long does it usually take?  I could have made my own in less time.

How about the people who post pictures of their beautiful clematis (@hostafan and @obelix for example) which means I spend £lots and spend the day in the hot sun fixing trellis to fences and preparing the ground for their arrival   :/

Is the gist that there is some blame game going on?

Humph!!!   I haven't posted pics of my clems for ages cos all the ones I brought and have bought since the move are still in pots except 2 which are "thinking about" life in the ground with roots free to roam.

On the other hand, I confess to encouraging people to buy them and plant them well cos they are just wonderful.

Exactly Obelix, they are indeed and it's so difficult to choose which one(s) to get.

I've been bitten by ladybirds. They will do it in a drought or if they're non native. They sting for a second and you  survive to swear at the ungrateful b####r.
Are you allowed to say things like that any more?  A very insular attitude if you ask me.  How would we cope if there aren't enough native ladybirds to do all the work required of them? :)
