I cannot understand how friends say they have a great holiday when they travel to countries with these temperatures in July and August.  I find it totally debilitating.......I was just not built to cope with temperatures above 25 degrees.
But when you're on holiday you don't have to do the daily chores and grind that you would at home so being by the ocean with a breeze or at a pool with a cocktail in hand is quite different.
I'm off to Crete for some sizzling sun in  mid July and i'll be blissed out unlike the hot mess I am here in the UK this week  :D

@MrsFoxglove yes, I thoroughly agree with you, now if I had a pool/pond big enough to get into and coo down (must add to your wishlist thread), I would then be a very happy camper.  Right now I am a hot sticky sweaty red faced, hair tied up in a bun mess!! LOL
p.s. only had a shower an hour ago!!

Italy was no sunbathing trip! 6 cities and sometimes two tours a day for 12 days!

For years we went to Egypt ever August. Most days it was 120 plus and we still managed to visit the pyramids, valley of the kings etc.
the bit of sun we get at home is positively mild compared with what we paid a lot of money to go to and I know not everyone copes well with the heat but I do think we Brits do tend to go a bit overboard with our moaning about the weather.
We get a bit of snow and schools close, the sun comes out and half the sports days are cancelled. I just think we as a nation love to moan about the weather be it hot, cold, rain or windy.
I agree. This is what summer weather is supposed to be like but because it normally p!sses down with rain from June to September (causing peoples homes to flood :s) actual sun and heat has come as a shock to everyone! The media don't help as they hype things up to disaster movie proportions  :s yes it's hot but c'mon peeps it won't be long till we're freezing our t!ts off again and being hospitalised for hypothermia because we can't afford the cost of heating our homes (according to the media)  :D

You may call it moaning but I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which means I really really struggle in the heat.   I've not been out in daylight hours since Sunday and am only able to spend a few minutes in the garden.

So yeah.... maybe you like it but I'm feeling really ill and getting a bit fed up with being called a moaner.
    I wish I was a glow worm
    A glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be grumpy
When the sun shines out your bum!

Swimming pool is going right on my wishlist too  :D and an orange grove so I could pick them straight off the tree and squeeze them fresh over perfect cubes of ice which i'd drink whilst floating on a lilo in newly installed swimming pool  :p

We just had a thunderstorm roll through so our temp is currently 24. Forecast to shoot back up to 28 before nightfall. It's the 90-100% humidity that's hardest here. Feels like a hot, wet blanket when you walk outside. But the temps are much cooler than usual so I'm not going to complain too much

I bought and put in a load of geums in a large bed a few weeks ago - maybe six good sized plants. I am watering a lot but they are really struggling with the sun/heat. I'm guessing I should take the flowers off them all too allow them to bed in / survive. I have mulched them but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. I would imagine they had been cosseted in a temp regulated greenhouses. All my other plants are doing ok. New roses, fruit trees, other new perennials. Just not the geums. Any thoughts?
