I am on a metre but I still use what I need as I have paid a fortune over the years on plants so I don’t want to lose them by not giving them the watering they need.

You lovely dears.. it's 38C in my part of UT today.. dipping down to 32 for the weekend, then back up to 36/37 for all of next week. That's our summer though, and what I signed up for when moving here. Certainly not for the U.K., the land where it's so rare to open a window that the two places I lived at didn't even have screens to keep the bugs out.
I cannot understand how friends say they have a great holiday when they travel to countries with these temperatures in July and August. I find it totally debilitating.......I was just not built to cope with temperatures above 25 degrees.
Bug screens Blue Onion! Never heard of them! Wish I could have some though as mosquitoes are bad even though it is dry. We're just not used to such heat. Also our choice of plants cannot cope with prolonged heat. Mary370 we were in Italy in May with temps of 29C and I coped better there as the heat is a different type drier I think.
For years we went to Egypt ever August. Most days it was 120 plus and we still managed to visit the pyramids, valley of the kings etc. the bit of sun we get at home is positively mild compared with what we paid a lot of money to go to and I know not everyone copes well with the heat but I do think we Brits do tend to go a bit overboard with our moaning about the weather. We get a bit of snow and schools close, the sun comes out and half the sports days are cancelled. I just think we as a nation love to moan about the weather be it hot, cold, rain or windy.

I dont know about that Sussexsun the heat has has a bad affect here as my poor hubby's shoulder op is cancelled again tomorrow as so many people are ill because of the heat there are no beds.
I know we're never satisfied! Personally l am happy around the 22, 23 degree mark, and with age and wisdom (!), l have learnt that it is pointless wearing myself out in this weather. Did a little deadheading around 2pm, and could hear ndn in his garden. No idea what he was up to, but the language was getting pretty ripe! He had a heart attack a few years ago, so you'd think he would know better. @purpleallim, sorry about your OH, hopefully op will be rescheduled soon.
