Reasons to be cheerful : please add yours.
1. The drought is keeping slugs and some weeds under control.
2. Three of the ten asparagus crowns I planted in April are growing, and about half of the 24 dahlias.
3. The yellow zantedeschia I thought had perished has several green shoots.
4. The young man who came to fit my smart meter this morning was pleasant company and very picturesque.
5. The Triteilia laxa is about to flower, and there are buds in the agapanthus.
6. The raspberries are starting to ripen, I ate a few today and they were lovely.
And best of all
7. A hedgehog came calling this evening, the first we've seen since 2015.
