I did some watering this afternoon. OH cleaned the hedgehog cafe and then thinned out the hornwort in the pond, rescuing pond snail eggs and all sorts of little beasties. The weed is on the edge of the pond so that any he missed can get back into the water or maybe the hoggies will think it's their hors d'oeuvres  ;)
Now it's time for bed so night night all. ... sweet dreams ...

Rain? What is that Joyce? Baskets need daily water at least twice at the moment, everything looked lovely and fresh now with the heat and no rain for ages along with me all looking a little faded. Topping up fish pond every couple of days, hoping for at least a little shower tonight. Holly dog went to groomers today picked her up and was presented with a plastic bag with two tics in it uggggg!!she has never had one before, now I feel hot, tired and itchy

Potted on 17 eryngium alpinum and 10 monardas then sowed some verbena "Blue Spires" and verbascum something and another thingy.  Brain a bit dead after dancing this evening which was fun and had me in stitches and then a not very edifying chat with Possum who is now stressing about presenting her thesis next Monday but has several appointments to look at new apartments to rent over the next 5 days.  Guess which I think takes priority!

Anyway, the dancing fun was because our latest figure in cha-cha is all about the man turning and twirling and guess who wobbles around like an unbalanced spinning top.  He's not the only one but I find great funds of giggles seeing him fail to "use his core" and finally start to understand what we "cavalières" do all the time - backwards and in heels!

He's off at 6:30 tomorrow and this metaphorical mouse intends to play whilst the feline is absent.............

We have swallows nesting in the ground floor of the ruin and there are redstarts about too but no idea where they nest.   Upstairs?  Too precarious to go and see beyond the staircase.  Wondering about putting owl boxes in OH's barn.     Anyone else got owl boxes?

Enjoy your rest next week Busy.   Good book Joyce?

Evening all. Feeling a bit sad here as today was my last day at college apart from the exams next week. I may do the next course but even if I do it, it'll be at a different site, with a different tutor and mainly different people. I will miss my college days so much

Hope those due to have stormy weather get plenty of rain but no damage. And BL I hope the rain holds off for you (but maybe give your hands a rest for a while?). Liri - have you had any rain yet? I'm on tenterhooks waiting to hear if your roof repairs are sound!

Thinking of you Chicky - did all go smoothly?

Not sure if I've missed a detail somewhere: Obxx, have you stayed behind because of having no house sitter? Or weren't you supposed to go?

Enjoy your knitting, Dove and Pat. Is it the same lovely cardi you posted a picture of recently, Pat? The one with toggles.

Lots more revision for me over the next few days. SO much to cover, but today we went through a load of past papers which was really useful.

PS has anyone got any suggestions / reassurances for me re: my pond slugs? (later post in the 'Clear pond' thread)?

Hi LG - OH was leaving anyway tomorrow for various reason including golf and I was due to go up on the 26th for 2 weeks to be there for the graduation and flat hunting but now we have no house-sitters I'm staying here.   Looks like a yo-yo summer coming up as we go up and down in turn to see about moving her.  Rental ends 31/7....   She'll be doing a Masters so I'll get to go to that graduation.

Best of luck for your exams and all the revision.   I hope it all goes well for you.   Sorry, can't help with your pond slugs.

Gosh that's quite a long time yoyo-ing! If you found a housesitter in the interim I guess you could go after all, or is all the travel booked? I couldn't work out why you needed one but then it dawned on me - the pets! Not being a pet person I was a bit slow on the uptake . I'm sure you'll have fun getting lots done anyway. The new dance sounds very amusing  .

The travelling is by car so we can go as and when.  8 hours each way plus pit stops.  The problem is the critters.   Can't take them with and can't get them in kennels at this late stage and the neighbours are happy to feed our cats but can't be expected to have the dogs and take them for walkies as they have their no 2 daughter in finals exam mode (medicine) and a severely handicapped no 3 daughter and a dog of their own who is timid.

I do plan on having fun tho.

LG the cardigans I’m knitting are the same pattern I used that had toggles. It’ll be interesting to see how they turn out. Still got to finish back and sleeves for twinnie no. 2. I’ve finished twinnie no 1’s knitting but nothing sewn up yet.

    Morning all.
We've got rain. Not much, but it's most welcome.
To-day is " top-knot to work day". My Section Manager says " it doesn't break any rules on personal appearance" but I'm sure someone will make a comment. I'm intrigued to customer reaction. :D

    Morning all

Thanks for all your thoughts over the last couple of days.  It was the usual strange mix of sadness, combined with a nice time catching up with family that we don’t see that often.  Me and sisters have resolved on a weekend on the North Norfolk coast later this year, with a few trips down memory lane planned, so nice to know we’ll be back soon.

Think Hector is missing us, but its certainly very blowy out there atm.

Pain about the house sitters Obxx, but it sounds like you have plans to make the most of the change of plans.  We retrieve Littlest Chicklet this weekend - first year of Uni all done - she is having the best time, and I’m so pleased for her.  Thinks her Uni is the best in the world 🌎, which is very un-littlest-chicklet like  :p

Good luck with the rest of the revision LG.  Pergola looks great Dove 😀😀😀.  Are you in Scotland too Kathie, or are other areas getting the drought as well?
