In his DVD on Cottage Gardens he had a wonderful polystyrene cell tray with a matching thingummy for pushing the rooted seedling out of the cell hole for planting on. Looked very practical and sturdy but I've never seen one.

Me too but he had a matching tray of pokey thingies so they all came out at once and evenly. Easy. I found plastic cell trays here last year that didn't even have drainage holes. Had to pierce them with a hot skewer.

I bought a little plastic tray a couple of years ago, with about 20 small pots which fitted in the cells. Asda - about a quid. Been very handy for all sorts of things. I don't grow a lot from seed, but I do salad crops, so it's perfect for those, and it's been useful for tiny little bits of primulas or white saxifrage that have seeded around and I want to keep. Stick in the pots for a little while before potting on. Sadly, it didn't come with a 'matching tray of pokey thingies' though Obelixx! I've been putting up one of those daft plastic growhouses. Girls had bought me a poncy wee box of various salad crops, so I thought I'd better do the toms. Knew I wouldn't be able to keep them on windowsills, so I got a cheapo one. Jeez. Less effort doing a couple of hills.... Apparently you're not to allow children to play in them ...what they'd be playing at I really don't know....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Where's yon green 'boak' face smiley we used to have?
Ditto, it was one of my faves and would have worked a treat on a certain "rose" question this morning.
Hahaha, that was me Hosta but in my defence I do need cataract operations. I'm not getting said rose but not because of what you said more that when I showed my daughter the picture she looked horrified and just said the single word 'Mum'. I expect you can imagine how she said it
Evening all, Shattered after spending all day in the garden. Jonah not well so secondborn didn't come across for a BBQ. Sowed some cornflower seeds, weeded, fed cannas and clematis. Hope everyone else had a good day.
I've had a lovely day ... OH finished painting the shed then started painting the pergola we bought last year before my accident ... he's painting it before we put it up, then it'll only need touching up.
I did some weeding/hoeing in the morning and then spent some time in the shade on the sunlounger with a book ... but I fell asleep ... supper has been eaten (lamb koftas, pitta, yoghurt & mint, onion salad, hummus, baba ganoush, radish, lettuce) and OH has washed up Now it's time for Vera then A Very British Scandal ..........
See you later folks ........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Have done a bit of pottering and some watering and checking up on babies but most of my day has been spent helping Possum do an English language summary of her survey for her thesis. Boggling. Mostly Brits and Europeans responded but also one from Benin and one from Azerbaijan. Just over half were male but 2 ticked "other". One, to the question about what they thought of the UK, responded "Queen has beautiful hats". One was just plain rude.
I git cross with the throbbing thumb and, after its latest soak in hot iodine, pierced it. Messy but pressure off tho offending article is still in there. All wrapped up in magnesium sulphate again. I'd cross my fingers but I need them in the absence of the thumb.
What will you be growing up the pergola Dove? Shame about Jonah Yvie. Good luck with the cornflowers. Hope your growhouse works FG and doesn't get blow away.

Evening all. 13 hours today of lovely warm ( 23C ) weather. I'd rather have been at home TBH and I've left a note pleading to be discharged from my overtime shift tomorrow afternoon. Just had dinner so off to sit with Hubby for a bit before bedtime ( which won't be far off) @DyersEnd , Sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes ( no pun intended ) to allow us to see more clearly. No news of my hospital appointment yet.
