Are they sure it's cats and not foxes. i wouldn't think cats would visit a noisy and unfamiliar building site?
It's not noisy when no one is one site and the cats were probably using the ground for years before it was built on so it won't be unfamiliar. It's definitely cats though. It's a distinctive smell.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Maybe nothing to do with the subject about evil cats but I sure do hate my neighbors dog who barks all day when she is at work. Suppose we all have to just get along.

Irresponsible pet owners are all equal regardless of pet species.

I think you should stick with sitting on your hands from now on.

Yes, sorry. I forget that we can't go upsetting cat owners with reality. What I meant to say was all the builders were turning up to work early to spend time petting the fluffy kitties and everyone had a wonderful time. o:)

Good people, I came here looking for a plant to deter or repel cats from my garden. Is there an answer, anyone? thanks in advance.

Here's my cat deterrent - worked a treat for me!

They still pass through but they don't stick around for long!

I had to laugh when I saw your cat deterrent WillDB, but surely dogs bring their own problems in the garden, although catching birds isn't one of them I admit.
Our neighbour has a cat (nearly 4 yrs.old), who does catch the occasional bird, but just as bad is we have lost many of our visiting birds.  I am sure the birds can see/smell the cat We used to have an owl which left for good once the cat arrived.  We bought the cat a collar with bell and showed it to him - he hasn't caught a bird since and that was nearly 9 months ago. I have used a water pistol on occasion when he climbed to the top of the bird table.  I find the herring gulls and magpies as much as a nuisance to the little birds.
I always garden wearing thin rubber/plastic gloves, they save my nails as much as coming into contact with cat poo.
