Aargh!  My tiny new rose bush is infested with aphids!

I thought everything was going well and only by chance decided to look closer. I’ve taken about fifty off one stem alone and I can see the ants bringing more to attach!

    Turn the hosepipe on 'em!

    Will do.

I took plate of them down to where the birds usually attack the things I dig up - will they eat them..or am I just spreading the infestation?

    No, that's fine.

I usually find that the families of fledgling bluetits hoover them up from the rose bushes before the infestation gets too bad.  :)

  • It looks like we have had a frost here. The garage roof is white.   As it looks like good weather today, we are going for a bluebell walk at Felley Priory. (Gardeners World 2 for 1 card, 1st use. )
The priory looks a lovley place in notts. I went to the largest bluebell (English) display in western Europe yesterday. The bells there last year did not peak untill around mid july. This year, due to very low winter temps. They are peaking out early, 5wks or more early. Westwoods, in Wiltshire. Under young (1920's) ash, birch and chestnut plantations.

Evening all,  :) first day of annual leave spent at dentist extracting front upper, want looking forward to it but had gone dead and wobbly since I was a career worker for a young man with epilepsy and I got on the wrong side of an elbow during a seizure so excuse me if I'm joining Joyce with a medicinal one! Cheers Joyce and big hugs and well wishes to you!!! Xx
I've got a Dove flying over with all her young tender seedlings that need babysitting while she's on holiday 😊 I'll catch up tomorrow, night night all 😴

Oh you all make me laugh. Sorry to hear about your fall though, Joyce.
once again, I’ve had trouble getting onto the site. Hubby eventually said oh you might to re-boot.   Thanks a lot.
We have stormy (wet) weather predicted for the next few days, so we are flopping inside. Im still working on my son’s jumper. Sleeves done, and almost finished the back. The worst part will be doing the neck of the front. Son doesn’t fancy the neck on the pattern. So I’ve to think of a way to sort that out. Typically I’m leaving the hard part until last.🙄
The flu and pneumonia injections have affected us both. Very lethargic. Just as well the weather is stopping me doing any gardening. Not sure how I’ll go with Ukelele practice though. I haven’t tried yet. 😄

Good morning all  :). g'day Pat  :). Hmmm fiddling around with necklines isn't easy. ... good luck with that.
Still dry here ... think the chance of rain has passed us by for today. I sowed our runner beans direct yesterday, thinking that the soil being nice and warm and some showers being forecast they should be fine to get going while we're away. I did water them in, but I may have to give them a good hosing or two before we go.
Oooh ... just heard a woodpecker drumming ...
