... The rate things are going I will have to cancel the Open Day.

That would be such a shame  :(

Quiet here.  Possum's on a train back to Namur and OH is out playing golf.

It's miserable here too Busy.  Every time I go to walk the dogs it's peeing down so I go off and get busy and, of course, it stops or slows.  Just tried again and it started to pour just as I was getting the leads.   Same with gardening.  The soil is either too dry to weed easily or else it's pouring down.   Being retired I no longer am prepared to spend a weekend getting soaked just because it's the only time I have to garden.   On the up side, I now have 2 sunflowers peeking thru from Tuesday's sowings.

I seem to have a rose thorn stuck under my thumb nail at the side edge of the nail bed.  Ever so tender and throbby so I'm about to soak it in hot water and iodine and see if that loosens it.   Worked when I had an 11mm splinter in the other thumb which the GP couldn't see when he dug out a speck.

Love those water lilies Hosta, and the blue tits.

Well I got the runner beans and french beans in. Puddled them in and tied them to the canes. I also had to tie up the sweet peas. They seem to want to be trailers.
Side shoots removed from tomatoes. I am  debating whether to clear another patch in the veg garden , or get some dahlias in the flower garden.
I am trying to tick things off the bucket list. The way my joints are, if I don't do them now, I never will. It's not as if we have kids to leave the money to, and the nieces and nephews will spend it fast enough if we don't.

Rain has stopped play here too. But, this is Devon, so we're used to it.
I'm certainly not complaining about the weather we've had for about the last 4 or 5 weeks.
Hubby helped me move mulch onto the beds I mulched then planted dahlias/ cannas. Some was dug in as I planted , now remulched on top. I'm V happy with the results.
Too hot earlier to plant tomatoes , but I might venture up later now it's not sunny.
The last water lily, the very dark one, is Black Princess.
    Devon.

It's been spitting and drizzling here all day ... now it's brightening up, just as I'm ready to start sorting supper out and then start some new knitting ... I'll hang the washing out tomorrow, and plant the tomatoes and sweetcorn out ... the forecast is dry at least, if not sunny ...

We heard thunder in the distance, but none here yet.

Humid and cloudy this morning. Hot and sunny now.  Commiserations to all who have thunderstorms.

How strange the weather is, we only live a few miles apart as the crow flies, but it’s just started to rain here, I’ve been making up tubs all afternoon.  North Devon aparantly haven’t had that gorgeous heat we’ve had, OH working at Bude quite a bit said it was foggy and damp.

Not read back properly, but - gorgeous water lilies Hosta. That blue tit's face.... :D
I came home yesterday and two male sparrows were in the pond having a communal bath and a good shake afterwards. Who needs tv when you can watch that? It's the part of the garden I enjoy most.
Another ridiculous day at work. Friday can't come soon enough.... :/
Fish supper has helped though  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Agricultural Show time of year eh Fairy ?....... road in Suffolk yesterday was blocked by an empty cattle truck and a flock of police personnel with their arms outstretched trying to herd some reluctant sheep up the A12 and back into the horsebox while a mile of three lane traffic backed up behind them  ;)
