Don't mind you testing one little bit Topbird 😁, and i do hope that the flaggers reconsider and don't banish Angela.

I am however very uncomfortable with the tone of some of the posts here.  A bit of leg pulling is fine by me when it's between established forumers, but to treat a newcomer like this is just plain nasty.

The saying, "If you can't say anything nice...." comes to mind 🙊 .

Totally agree. Completely out of order.

we line our graves with that ‘grass’ I wonder what will happen when the dogs use it as a loo, there’s plastic underneath.

Apparently it quickly starts to smell REALLY bad. You should bear in mind that you will have to wash it with either mild bleach or soapy water fairly regularly if the dogs are, er, using it. That will have a detrimental effect on plants near by. So raised beds are a good strategy in principle to keep the soap off the soil, but make sure you have an effective drain so you can sweep the cleaning fluid away without it leaching into planting areas.

I love the changing seasons - it's sort of the point of gardening to me - so I've never come across the fence canvas things. In general though, most painted or printed images fade in sunlight. So I would imagine it may be OK on a north facing fence but if it's a sunny spot, it may not last very long. I've no idea what they cost, so don't know if it would be a sensible short term strategy to get instant 'view' then bin it when the garden in front grows up a bit?

Angela, I have just posted what I hope are some friendly, constructive suggestions on your other railway sleepers thread...

oh Kitty, what about “Never ask a question the answer to which you would rather not hear”?
ok Pansy, I'll accept that one as an alternative viewpoint 😊. You made me laugh 😆.

I don't normally stick my beak in on threads like this, but am getting fed up with it. Every weekend it's the same old story. Trigger happy spam flaggers, WUM's and argy-bargy.
It's a shame as it probably puts new people off, and on the whole the forum is usually a friendly, helpful one.

I have to agree with some of the comments being rather nasty, not just in this thread either. Very off putting for new gardeners asking for advice.

Unless we're all expected say , "oooohhh, that's lovely" to every single suggestion, what's the point in asking for opinions?

Perhaps they could be less blunt and more sensitive to people’s feelings
