G.D. Coom up't north lad, here in Stockton it is only 22C. Early this morning a sea mist was covering the lawns which are still green unlike a few miles up the road they are brown. The Garden is blooming and I have the best show of an Iceberg climbing Rose ever, one huge mass of blooms, Some plants are fading others just opening up that cool North Sea Mist may block the sun for an hour the plants love it. Memories of 111F in the shade water rationed laying panting in the heat of day unable to handle the weapons or mount the armour cured me of any grumbles at the UK weather, it is perfect. Frank.
@Mary370 & @herbaceous Oh I know I was on my at allotment at 9pm last night still watering. I guessed as the "kick ball" was on telly I might get it all to myself, sadly not true as there are obviously not so many England supporters here as I had hoped.
I'm not sure about the weather in 1966, but does anybody remember the great heatwave of 1976? Six long weeks of glorious weather but no rain! I wasn't a gardener then but oh, the novelty of not needing a cardigan or umbrella!!!
I remember the summer of 76 vividly, I was 7 mths pregnant! as Joyce says a very welcome breeze today, we are very central but thankfully 650 ft never thought I would say that! thank goodness no water restrictions, so many plants droopy

79F/26C; very humid. We had a trip to a National Trust garden that also has a rose garden. We called it a day after two hours. A lovely, stiff breeze this evening though!
If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need. Cicero
