Let's put this to bed once and for all ... I am not and never have been a moderator on this forum or any other.  Daniel has said this publicly on the forum, however there are some people that will not let this falsehood drop.  Let's face it, if I had been a moderator I would not have had the freedom to snap at CC as I did yesterday ... I apologise for what was a moment of short temper ... I only wish that CC had given the new forum a proper try  rather than make such a negative first post ... many of us have been going out of our way and spending a considerable amount of our time to help those who have had some problems.  Is it any wonder that one or two of us feel a little thin skinned when people criticise without even trying?

Now I'm going out into the garden ...........

CC  If you want to be a martyr to ads that your choice.   Adblocks have been devised for those of us who don't want to be bothered by them, just like FF when watching recordings on commercial TV.

KT - where posters are from only matters if they have no idea about gardening in a temperate climate or suiting plants to their garden.   We can help with that.

I use AdBlock on the PC and it works great, but I know where CC is coming from regarding accidentally opening an Ad, when using my mobile to access this site if you don't wait until the page is fully loaded you think you are tapping on a thread to open it but then the thread will have slightly moved position as the Ads load and you inadvertently tap the Ad instead.

I use an adblocker because nothing advertised on this site is of interest to me. I don't watch gardening programmes and I don't read gardening magazines. I do my own searches when looking for plants.
I find targeted advertising particularly annoying as, generally, days later, I'm still getting ads for something that I've bought already!

For pity's sake can you all stop sniping at each other and grow up. It's getting really tedious.

Some people are even against putting 20 feet high pictures of women in their underwear at traffic junctions.
What you put in your underwear, especially at traffic junctions is your own business, Paul. :o:D
  • I can't remember ever buying anything as a result of an advert on the internet, TV or anywhere else, so a site that gets money from an advertiser for showing me an advert is doing so unfairly. The sort of person who uses an adblocker is the sort of person who ignores adverts anyway, so nobody should object to their use.

I agree Alan, If I want something I go and look for it. I would NEVER take what is thrust at me.

Hello @Cottage Compost - if there's something you need help you're welcome to get in touch with me either on the forum or by private message.

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about the adverts, which as some have said, helps to pay for gardenersworld.com. If there is a particular ad which is behaving badly (blocking content / interfering with the site's behaviour etc), you can report it to us and our ads team can look into it and take it down if necessary.

I'll lock this thread now to prevent any more arguments.
