I hate change and admit that I have had some problems, but Nora has had endless patience and helped me out. There is always someone who is willing to help, that is the good thing about this forum, whether it be gardening or the teccie side of it. Hope the brandy did the trick
Will no-one think of the ad men. We all record TV nowadays and fast forward through the adverts. Nobody buys newspapers any more. Some people are even against putting 20 feet high pictures of women in their underwear at traffic junctions. Those long lunches don't just buy themselves you know!

@Cottage Compost, my first experience of the refreshed forum, was not being able to login. Which left me feeling pretty ratty. The adverts tie my computer and brain in knots. I've fixed that with an ad blocker. There are plenty of other annoyances that I'm slowly learning to live with, but technology aside - the community is helpful. It might be worth documenting the specifics of your frustration.
My initial tips are: click the star to bookmark threads you want to follow - you need to opt in for that now. And if you want to edit your post, currently you can do that for a limited time with the cog icon near the time of your post.
Where you are from and how you were educated, or not, are immaterial here.
Where a person is from is potentially relevant but level of education shouldn't be. People adding snide comments about the use of spell checker etc isn't going to encourage people to stay, particularly if they have said they don't particularly like the changes made to the site. I may be wrong, but I wasn't aware that GW forum had appointed any volunteer moderators.
Companies that produce adverts produce them in very specific dimensional sizes and file size groups. This is done purposely. Websites that display adverts can choose the sizes of the advets displayed in specific locations on each page theirfore maintaining consistency to the visitors. Website administrators can pick and choose advertisement groups and types and more from the provider.
Won't install an ad blocker...... as a businessman myself i more than understand the importance of generating a sustainable worthwhile income for all my hard work whatever it might be. The gardeners world website most generate an income. Those that use an ad blocker are compromising that and reducing income. The administraters are being denied there income by those using ad blockers.
I hate the ads and accept them but they should not annoy visitors and cause problems in the way these are, well the top most one especially. If i have a choice, (i do) i'd rather go elswhere than install an ad blocker personnally. If i was the administrator of this website i'd be blocking visitors using ad blockers but likewise ad placement, size and type would be consistant throughout as a matter of utmost importance.
Nora and the rest of the gardeners world forum team require a wage for there efforts, using an ad blocker denies them of that income.

We all take on the role of volunteers when we can see a way to help someone, so if you have idieas how to help CC get along with the new site, don’t be afraid to come forward and say.
