Hi Emma,It will be interesting to know if the upturned bottles work on your peas as the mice do dig down into the soil.
My tomato seed are now showing, a good 10 days slower than the various flower seeds sown at the same time.
A sweet pea breeder advised me to start the seed on damp paper covered with cling film. Remove and pot each seed as the root appeared, this worked very well for me but was time consuming. Now I rely on using fresh seeds, sown indoors, in long pots in Oct/Nov., grown on coolly in the unheated conservatory.
Well yes ... but the first photo was taken from a spot directly in line with the clock which is how it will have been lined up/placed.
Flippin' miserable weather here .. everything is dripping wet. Chap just arrived on his bike to collect some demi-johns I put on Freecycle yesterday ... you wouldn't think you could get five glass demi-johns on a bike would you ... but you can He's a keen allotmenteer and last year took on a bigger plot and inherited two large grapevines so will be making even more wine. He says he pops in on GW forum occasionally

Hi folks, Have been offline due to a power cut. Hubby thinks it's something to do with the garden electrics so have switched everything off until he can sort it out. He's busy at the moment preparing for tomorrow. Have been out to pay mums bills and buy hubby something to wear in court. His normal attire is jeans and a rock t shirt. Not really the thing for court. I'm going for smart but casual. He's not a suit sort of guy and I don't want him to feel uncomfortable. It's chucking it down so wont get any gardening done. I might start trawling the internet again for a suitable wheelchair for mum, this time I'll make sure that it will fit through the door. So sorry about your dilemma P'doc hope things get sorted soon.
@punkdoc - I hope you have enough information to help you make a decision... I expect your professional knowledge is a both a blessing and a curse here. Is it worth pondering what you would say to a friend or loved-one, or even a patient, if you were helping them to decide?? @Yviestevie - sorry to hear you have a stress too.
I hope everyone is doing ok and all those seedlings, buds and new plants are coming on well.

So are we all heading to Bath with a stick of rock, some pear drops and a bag of fudge?
