There is a big bushfire near the Holsworthy Army Base (near Sydney). Looks bad, especially with these terrible winds.
im glad we aren’t close enough for Hubby to be called out.

I've lived here 6 years and didn't realise we had an army base. Oops, different Holsworthy.
    Morning all.
Weeing down here so my plans to cut the grass tomorrow before Big Sis arrives on Tuesday may come to nowt.
Lots of weeding done yesterday and woodchip topped onto path in the Hosta Tunnel.
Spikey wolfed down the dog food. I hope he likes it, it's cheaper than the cat food.

I live in Holsworthy. I wonder if you traced back the history if you'd find the original settlers there came from this part of Devon?
I did get a fright when I put in " distance from Holsworthy to Torquay" and it gave me the distance between the two in Australia.

    Morning all.
We were out all day yesterday, an AGM and lunch some way away. Busy potting up all my seedlings the day before.
Still have sciatica, can’t finish clearing my borders, too painful. Had meant to do it before going to Norfolk on Tuesday. Apart from the fact that it keeps raining.
Today will be HW and ironing and doing house sitter’s room. It may rain.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Interesting. There are heaps of place names in Australia that obviously originated in the “old country”. I sometimes wonder if they were homesick, or if the scenery reminded them of the places they left behind.

One of the things that was mentioned on the news broadcast about the fire was that they were worried about ordnance which might explode if the fire reached the base.  There have been more than 500 firefighters working of the fire plus helicopters etc. it’s also the largest army base in Australia.

Lizzie, have you tried getting a chiropractor to get it back 8nto alignment?  We find our local fellow to be very good.

    Morning all 😀,

Hosta, I thought it doesn't rain in Cornwall 😆, hope you and your sister have a lovely time.

Pat, it was my neighbors alarm that was going all day, but I managed to get the name of his alarm and googled the T/phone number and they tracked the owner down, but the neighbor didn't say thanks for looking out or anything 😤That's people for you these days.
Pat hope it's not too cold for you today.

BL, it's grey but not wet in Lancashire so far, but it has forecast rain sun, mon & Tuesday then it's hot sunshine from Wednesday onwards yay! 😀

A good chiropractor can certainly help a bad back and free trapped nerves as long as they do it gently and loosen muscles first.  I had one who was a magician but then another who was a bit rough.   Something else to consider is the Alexander Technique if you can find a practitioner.   I grew an inch after just one session and was pain free for the first time in months.  Could hardly walk beforehand.

Our overnight guest has just left so I'm up earlier than usual for me on a Sunday, especially after a bad crampy night.  I went out to pick one of the last 3 Savoy cabbages for our dinner last night but found two had become a network of lace.  The culprits turn out to tiger moth caterpillars so I'm leaving them to it.

Finally got all the grass cut yesterday and also Karcher'd the terrace and steps.  Unfortunate side effect is that the new shower room flooded so clearly there is some sealing to do before they carry on with the wall boarding and insulation.   Need a wee chat with chappy.

Out this afternoon doing decorative bits for next week's plant fair.  I bought lots of lovely perennials last year but some succumbed to the drought so more needed.   Need to make some biscuits to share with our coffee and then do patchwork homework for tomorrow.

I hope you all get some sunshine or at least dry spells today so you can get out to play.
