I had been making a start on tidying up the borders ready for the new growth, but snow stopped play for most of the down-time. I couldn't even get to the shed to collect seed trays to start doing those. It was a great excuse to have a few days of baking and eating it all!
My little seat by the back door is usually safe from the rain, so I leave the blanket/cushions on and have a few pots which I want to protect...

Well I used the cold snap as an excuse to not do too much. I planted summer bulbs inside because they were supposed to go in the ground upon arrival, but I didn't think they (nor I) would welcome the sub-zero temperatures. I plan to pop them in the ground at the weekend.

I also bought a new compost bin because my wife spotted a small but of dead space in the garden that could be put to better use (exciting stuff! :D).

And the last couple of warmer days I've enjoyed eating my breakfast cereal whilst strolling up and down the garden before work admiring the new growth: daffodils are now flowering; the last of the crocuses are coming out; the new snowdrops are bouncing back after the snow; chionodoxa forbesii are starting to come up; the native bluebells look promising; I can't see any evidence of a return of the Spanish bluebells; tulips look strong; and I'm excited to see buds on our new cherry plum tree :)

We've had snow and frosts and gale force winds and downpours and hailstones and thunder and the works.  No gardening till yesterday pm when I found some forgotten bulbs and bunged them in pots and window boxes.  probably too late for flowers but at least they have a chance to love for next year.

This pm I planted out some fartichokes and rhubarb plants.   Other than that, my PC screen is doing an aurora borealis at me so I've spent hours and hours sorting, organising and deleting data and backing up the good stuff to external disks just in case.   Tens of thousands of pieces of ballroom dance music and salsa and line dance to sort out now they have their own new disk and lots of lovely dance videos so we can re-learn steps we'd forgotten.

Made mango chutney and some more blood orange and chili marmalade too and did patchwork homework.

My first batch of windowsill seeds germinated, so I have been shuffling them round windowsills, trying to make sure they stay watered, and turning them every now and then.

Plus drove the length of the country in the snow (stupid and scary) and flew to the other side of the world  :p

I've been marooned in the house under a foot or more of snow so spent it cooking, baking and eating! I couldn't even see the tips of the roses I planted in December. Never mind a snowplough or gritter. Half the village was out Saturday and Sunday clearing the village roads so that  the (very few) delivery lorries could make it in, then they started on the other roads in the village, the school and the carparks. I eventually got my car dug out on Monday.........

Garden has been frozen for the last three weeks now, still sitting here with snow all over, so nothing happening here, I've got window-ledges full of chitting potatos if that counts.

I've not sown anything yet. I've bought lots of summer bulbs from Morrisons though.

Dove, if you still have the spring cleaning bug please pass it on to me... have managed a few kitchen cupboards but that's all... we too were stuck indoors for several days, fortunately only 10 mins without electricity!  I made a lot of cake and biscuits (including experimental ginger flapjack, which will definitely be repeated) - and ate my share...  :*
