    Morning all.
I've "done" me back! I knew I wasn't designed to dig! Just one small area above my right hip but it's jumping!!!
Got my new car WooHoo. Can't find/work the bells and whistles Booo...
Oh well. I'll soon get the hang of it.
Grey here but at least the rain has passed over so hopefully it'll stay dry till the week-end. It's nice to do some positive gardening ie planting, rather than the death and destruction of the past wee while.
Any brilliant ideas for a really REALLY steep bank about 8ft high and South facing?
    Enjoy your Tuesday.

Dove, latest news is that Regina’s mother is ok, she’s had an X-ray and they’re keeping her in hospital tonight, then tomorrow a scan just to be sure. Regina has arrived there.
Wonder if she will visit here tonight.

    Hello folks.

Good news about Regina's mum, Pat, though as Dove says, she'll take a while to get over the shock... sorry about your tender veg & last night's frost, though.  Hope you got the zucchini picked yesterday!

Hosta, drive carefully.  12-hour shifts are all very well, but you need enough breaks to stay alert.

PP and Yvie - don't overdo it!  Gently does it... and HHog, congrats on the new allotment, but again - take it slowly or you'll be horizontal.

The electrician is here again, testing everything before moving the fuse board to a more sensible place (where we can box it in).  He's about to turn off the electricity, so the modem will go off... could post on my phone, but I think I'll just go and do something useful...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Morning all.
    Enjoy your allotment, HH.
Sorry about your back, PP, hope it recovers quickly. What sort of car did you buy? I have a bank at the Norfolk cottage, but it's only about 4ft. I've covered it with ground covering rockery plants, doing OK so far.

Raining. Plan is to wash out the GH and get it ready for baby plants. Check the little electric heater and the heat mat.

I was feeling rather depressed about the state of the garden, but feel better now I've done the end bed and most of the long border and pruned some roses. But there is so much more to do. I can't weed properly because it's too wet. Baby plants are sprouting on window sills which gladdens the heart but they will need to go into the GH soon before they get too leggy. At least there aren't frosts when it's raining.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Pat E I have 20 Pumpkin 'Dills Atlantic Giant' seeds in pots on the window sill, they will cover the area this year as I plan what and how I want to lay it out.

I like Atlantic Giant makes great ground cover good eating and I always try for a big one for the Autumn show so far 52Kg just over 114lb is the biggest I have achieved and a first prize.

Hope the back gets better soon PP

As you say Busy gladdens the heart as you start to see the new seeds starting into life.

Have a good day all I'm off to take a friend to the hospital so maybe gone some time :|

Hello everyone.  Wet and mis here and feeling bleugh myself after waking up in the middle of the night with a thumping headache and not getting back to sleep for ages.

I hope you energy and attention levels last well Hosta.  Yvie - gnetly does it but yes, keep moving.

PP - maybe adopt No Dig?  In Belgium when people has slopes to plant they'd put down weed fabric and plant through it but boring stuff like horizontal cotoneaster that takes ages to cover it all.  I'd go for Busy's alpines and maybe some of the smaller ground cover geraniums and lady's mantle and plenty of spring bulbs and maybe some variegated ivy to help with ground cover and lighten it all in winter.  Vinca minor too?

HH - what will you do with all those pumpkins?  Looks like you have plenty to keep you busy and happy there.

Time to think about some lunch I suppose.  Maybe soup since it's so mis.   I hope it's brighter and sunnier where you are and, Pat, no more frozen veggies till you've harvested them.

HH New allotment looks great to me usually you get some weed infested mess to take over when they have finally prised the last tenant off.
PP I am in sympathy with you I finally got hold of the society rotavator yesterday and "did" all the clear areas of both my main plot & 1/2 plot in one hit, probably equates to 200 sqM all told. Yoga last night has helped stretch out the limbs again but still feeling it now. Perhaps is just as well it's wet I can have an easy day, mind you No 3 GD's birthday today so press ganged into helping with that later after school, now where are my ear plugs ? ( house full of 10 years olds make a lot of racket)

I’m not familiar with that pumpkin, but congrats on your success so far. Good plan.

Cleaned the GH, inside and out. Kept getting rained on when doing the outside. My new Vileda mop worked very well, except it is now filthy, even though I scrubbed it with Ariel. Inside the GH is now ready to receive baby plants although there is an underneath shelf that's a mess. Had enough after 2 hours. No stamina any more. Shall go and do ironing instead.
