New series of Gardeners World 2018?

  • Most programmes have boring bits or parts that aren't relevant to all of us - dog lovers enjoy seeing Nigel and Nelly and for those of us who don't watch a lot of telly the weather forecast is of interest too.

I would have liked more hard gardening including in the programme - building walls, making ponds, taking down trees etc, but they haven't included them recently - however I still enjoy watching the programme just to compare plants, learn new techniques, and be given reminders of things to do in the garden etc. etc.

Only 12 Mark? That's a pity as I hadn't got that far. I thought it was the whole season.

If you look at the youtube channel, it seems that the show is airing right now in some country, as the person posts one show per week, so hopefully the person will post the entire series.

  • How differently we all perceive the show, I think it's far to little about the kitchen garden. And most of it is for people with money, I would like to see more about planting perennial seeds as that is cheaper and also garden projects using upcycled materials.

Indoor composting, bokashi, is also something they should talk about and subjects like permaculture as many wrongfully think you need a farm in order to set it up.

I can't wait either! I have just found the whole 2013 series on YouTube and have been binging on that in the meantime. This itchy feeling is getting worse and I can't wait to get going for another year.

I can only see up until episode 12 on there, no more. image

this weekend I binged on whole series of "Real Gardens" on channel four.  It was from the year 2000 and was really good presented by Monty, Carol Kline and Anne Marie Powel.  It followed all different real gardens over a period of a year and the presenters helped them along the way.

Good to know. I love the dogs. To me they are delightful, not padding. They are the human element, as it were.

Like Hosta I record so I can FF.   Gone are the days when I learned something new or relevant each week and was glued to every minute.

The weather forecasts in the one hour show are a waste of time - it's one every news show and also the web which gives more local info.  I love dogs but resent the time given to shots of N & N along with pushing wheelbarrows about.  The 30 minute show is so short it needs to be packed and the hour long one is a chance to see more of other gardens/gardeners/experts/plants/techniques/designs/garden ecology and wildlife.  No time to waste there either.

I'm much more interested in when Beechgrove starts again.

I’m more interested in Beechgrove as well, much more practical and more suited to the climate where I live.

I enjoy them both, but then they are the only garen programmes we have.

It is an impossible task to make a programme, that keeps all gardeners of differing experience, interests, time, funds etc. happy.

How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

I know but the current form of GW is very Monty centric and not obviously relevant to the majority of UK gardens which are much smaller, have neighbours either side and behind so heaven help new gardeners whether taking on a new or established garden and anyone trying to transform a teeny new build garden full of builders' rubble.
