    I think the mystery shrub is Enkianthus campanulatus, @Obelixx.  
    Just found this lovely thread... must find some gardens to visit...
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Had a good day at Malvern Spring Show today. Here are a few photos. Have to say Alan Titchmarsh did a really good Q&A session, so funny.
