I think this thread is hysterically funny. image It's a perfect example of whataboutism and how it fails. We went from not understandig text correctly about Brexit, to trying to shift the blame to something about Sweden during WWII and when that didn't work, an effort was made to pin Sweden for something two completely different countries did in prehistoric times.

  • Depends on the way you look at it Firelily ....... however we've been here before with this subject and it wasn't pleasant ... it becomes personal and that's awful ...... Daniel and Nora asked us not to fall out about it again or they would have to think twice about non-gardening stuff in the Potting Shed ........

It would be great if we could discuss topical political issues without falling out but it never happens.  image

I know Dove and sorry. As discussed a few nights ago by a real expert on language we have had so many differing peoples in our land it is a wonder we do not just use hand signals Celts, Angles, Saxons, Normans, Romans, Nors of many tribes including Danes. It was tried to make the language more understandable by making it more Latin rooted, that did not work and we were taught Latin at School some of which I still remember, French went in one ear and out t'other. In my area of the North East we have five dialects all understandable to us living here but totally  confusing to other area's of this country. Arguments about how we must adhere to set rules in English as she is spoken do not wash, the English as taught to us as children is not the same nor has it the same rules as taught to children today and as my Granddaughter 13 showed me in her work yesterday is changing yet again to come into the Government guide lines for education? the mind Boggles.

This world in my life time has seen massive changes and will continue to change we never stand still, our hope when I was  soldier was for peace and look what we have. I rest my case and leave this particular thread.

    Frank.

Two people that can't see the difference between calling a decision stupid and calling people stupid. Nice.

No idea what happened with my first attempt at responding so let's try again.

The people made the decision, therefore if the decision is stupid the people making the decision must also be classed as stupid.

No, that is not how it works. Because if it is as you say, then a person that has made a stupid decision, would forever make stupid decisions as the person is stupid.

I sure have made stupid decisions, and I'm far from stupid, quite the opposite actually.

I have to say that from where I'm sitting, Fire Lily suggested our decision to leave the EU was stupid. That is very different from saying the people of the UK are stupid, logic dictates this.

That was how I read it too, Fishy.

    Yawn!

Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
