Sunny now but still cold.  Freezing again tonight.   I don't like it.   Getting soft I expect after just over a year here and being so much balmier than Belgium.

We have a couple of blueberry and hazelnut muffins left from yesterday and OH has half his Xmas pud that he finally heated up on Sunday and we have a whole Creole cake to go at but are saving fro when we can start gardening again.  However, I shall male that clementine cake in the next couple of weeks and I also have my eye on this which Possum says is very good - https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/coconut-chai-traybake for patchwork meetings, not just us.

Been quietly getting on upstairs with my trousse only to find OH has taken out the dogs without me.  So much for keeping the toes and everything else fit and mobile.  Tomorrow then.

Hosta - our boiler in Belgium used to block sometimes if we let the oil get down low as sludge would get in and block the flow to the burner.   Hope you get it fixed soon.   Hot water essential.

Hhog - hope you get  whole one but, if not, no harm in starting with a half and working up to a whole one if it comes free.

RG - I hate going to the hairdresser!  They always cut my fringe too short and too straight and those basins are neck busters.   Hope you found some lovely sticky cake or some biscuits.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hi everyone. Sorry been AWOL but have lurgy! I think it is probably not Flu, as my temperature been ok, but crumbs I feel rough!

I tried out reflexology on Sunday and "believers" of that say that toxins can be released. I believe though, that it's  just a coincidence as did have a sore throat all weekend.

Right, I do need to have a proper read back - but I noticed some new people had posted so hello and welcome to them. Hope everyone doing ok?

Dacha: it's a cactus but dont know which sort. We used to have some that flowered in Winter that we called Christmas Cactus and some that flowered in Spring that we called Easter Cactus!?!?

It's a Schlumbergera, probably a Schlumbergera buckleyi (it's not the colour of the flowers that determine it, it is the shape of the leafs).

Cheers FL....it's really quite amazing as this plant was just .....well just image

  • Enjoy it. It's one of those houseplants that your great great grandchildren can inherit from you. They are cold resistant (don't let it freeze, but I keep mine in a room with just plus degrees during winter), they are easy to take cuttings from and you can forget them for a long time without them dying. Don't spoil it and it will thrive.

  • Joyce ... hope you're feeling better soon ... according to a friend who has access to such information says that there is a mild form of Norovirus sweeping the UK. I was certain feeling 'off colour' for several days.
