We have redwings in the back garden They're hanging around in the ash tree with the blackbirds, but they don't come so close to the house ....... I've thrown some sultanas out there for them.
The driver of one of the abandoned cars has been trying again to move it ... attempting to drive forwards up the hill resulted in a crab-like motion across the road towards next door's clematis arch ....... thankfully he's given up and walked home again.
Son has just phoned ... he's driving across an old RAF base in Suffolk in a blizzard and can't see the roadways
BL .. I just asked my son about road conditions between Stansted and your cottage ... he said that at the moment the A120 road between Stansted and the A12 is closed in both directions and has been for some time due to a combination of accidents and the weather conditions ... he doesn't think that travel tomorrow will be a good idea.
He's also aware of problems at various airports ... workmates/colleagues are having to take on each other's jobs because people are stuck at airports unable to get to wherever they[re supposed to be.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hello again. Been and don our SM raid with a detour via Gifi who don't have any decent bed edging stuff. Pity. Then LIDL who haven't yet got tomorrow's special on seed trays and the like on display but did have a single stemmed pear tree I can cordon for just 6€99.
By then we were in need of warming up so decided to have lunch at the very good restaurant attached to the SM and now we're home, car unpacked, shopping put away and hatches battened. It is perishing out there and getting worse before it gets better.
Liri - I painted our Belgian bedroom one January cos I wanted it done before I got my new feet and would be out of order for a while. It wasn't till a couple of years later when we had a proper blanket of snow reflecting light up from the back garden (north facing bedroom) that I realised the ceiling was streaky......... Normal daylight and artificial light didn't show it at all.
Pdoc - training or video links definitely the way to go for you for a while. Meanwhile, stay tucked up warm and work on recuperating as much as you can. Frustrating, we know, but work with what you have now.
Congrats Yvie! Hope all goes well.
Keep warm everyone. Pond completely frozen this morning. Brrrr!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hardly a cloud in the sky here, but bitterly cold.
I thought I'd settle down and catch up on The Garden, but Hubby has found my Achilles' Heel and stuck "marigold hotel" DVD on. Stopped for a bit of lunch then back to Jaipur. ( I know it wasn't filmed there )
Joyce, stay warm and I hope the weather is not as bad as feared. LP, when are you back? Will you manage to miss all this? I completely misread your picture (not sure how) - thought it was taken from a plane .
It's been absolutely gorgeous here today. An unforecast covering of snow - probably only an inch - which was powdery and sparkly and white in bright sunshine. The new pond has an inch of ice covering it. View from my bedroom window at 7am:
I was at college today and there's a line of poplars visible from the classroom window, they looked great all snowy against the blue sky.
It's gone dull since lunchtime, the wind has got up and it's snowing now.
How's your neck today, Dove?
Pat, it must be odd for you sitting in 30 degrees and reading all this.
And finally - congratulations Yvie!
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Obelixx, I think perhaps if the ceiling only appeared streaky every couple of years when it snowed, I would leave well alone...
I don't think I've managed to persuade OH to stay home. The forecast isn't bad for quantity of snow due to fall on his route between now and 10pm, when he normally returns, but I'm a bit concerned about the amount of drifting snow around. Still, if he's determined to go there's not a lot I can do about it.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Dacha, we're really out of the loop with films.
We used to buy DVDs for £1 each in India, but since we've stopped going, we rarely see anything "new".
Beautiful picture, Hosta. Enjoy Jaipur!

How far does he have to go, Liri?

not perfect but a lot better than it was thanks .......... I'm doing stuff in small doses so it doesn't 'get set' in the wrong position.
