  • After about 30 years of marriage, stifling in the bedroom with the window shut as my husband prefered, I sneaked it open just a tiny bit one night and OH didn't notice.  image

I now sleep much better.  We never heat the bedroom and only shut the window if there's a storm, a howling gale or it's below freezing...  I do wear bedsocks though, cos OH objects to my cold feet.  image

I used to be good at learning things.  French vocabulary would be learnt on the 20-minute bus journey home from school, and would then be permanently in my head.  I'm now trying to re-learn Spanish, having done "O" level at school, and what I think I've learnt one week I have to re-learn the next...  image

  • Oops.  I think that might be my first posting today... how rude of me!  Hello everyone... hope your Friday is a good one.  image

Dacha, I have just seen your weather warning for the weekend!

I think you may want to shut the windows

OH is home from his golf and now out walking the dogs.  I have swapped out the kitchen table and replaced it with the dining table - shorter and wider when not extended - and cleaned the floor.   Now making blood orange and chili jam which smells fabulous.   Mango chutney next as we're running low.

The skies out of the kitchen window have gone really black and the low sun is lighting up the bare olive tree and all the Provence canes so they're glowing like old gold and we have a rainbow.  Beautiful.

Liri - OH and I want to learn Spanish but the only class I can find so far is a full degree course at La Roche university.  Not what I had in mind.  Just want enough to do intelligent tourism and understand what's going on around me.

Possum phoned earlier.  She's shopping for her packed lunches for next week.  Start of her internship in Brussels.  "What's French for Cheddar?"   Cheddar with an accent but don't go there cos it's factory made and horrid.   Use Old Bruges instead.  Lovely stuff, almost like mature cheddar.

Crikey, now we're going to the other extreme, -2° with the windows open and just a sheet below 10°! image

I helped OH get in several barrow loads of logs for the wood burner, then I washed the floor and felt awful afterwards. Tummy is OK now but throat is sore and temperature is nearly 100°. Wonder what is on it's way now.

Busy....a weekend of rest is on the cards for you.  Hope you feel better soon.

I like a cool bedroom and a hot bed......electric blanket goes on unless weather is very warm which is seldom.
