Meant to say - heard some of that programme on fungi, and will catch up with the rest later.  Fascinating stuff, especially the part about plants communicating information about aphid attack, via the micorrhizal fungi on their roots.  image

I agree I thought that bit was most interesting.

Good afternoon.  Cold and grey here so I have spent my morning in bed with a cat and a book and just resting apart from when Rasta doggy came to say hello and jumped up on my knees.  Why?  Today of all days?  When I did come downstairs Bonzo doggy early wagged them to death.  He has a very strong, communicative tail.

Need to clean the old cooker this pm as its new owner is coming to take it away.  Happen a bit of movement will loosen me up.

LG and Chicky and Hosta - how lovely to be following your daughters so closely.   Possum is enjoying her internship so far and is very chatty online so that's good too.

WW - sounds very busy to me.  Hope the visit goes well and the lasagna and pictures.

Joyce - good luck with rhodo.  Liri - lovely bear.  Hhog - how long for the work?

IanR - no idea.  I do remember form years ago when I had to go and see a chap about a knee injury (riding accident) that they made blanket appointments for everyone at 9:30 and then worked their way thru.  Hugely inefficient and waste of time.

Hello to anyone I've missed.  Everyone gearing up for a good weekend?

Off up to Windsor this evening for the BH's investiture at the castle tomorrow. We don't dare trust that there would not be any traffic chaos if we left it to the morning to travel. A3/M25/M4 are all a nightmare at rush hour. If all else fails we will at least be within walking distance of the castle in the morning.

She insisted l wear my kilt for the occasion so it will be the full White Heather Club shortbread tin look for me tomorrow. Test fitting today would indicate that I have gained a few kilos over the holiday seasonimage. Hope our celebration lunch afterwards doesn't add too much further strain.

Have a wonderful time SH, both of you.    Just be careful about bending over!

DL - you snuck in!   Love Manchester.  Have a great time.  OH is fascinated by the curling too.  I don't get it but each to their own.

Any computer geeks out there?  I've lost my bottom line with shortcuts to Email, Chrome, Word and Excel and also volume control, state of internet connection.   Very frustrating.   We've scanned for naughties and re-booted to no avail.

Argh! Just checked our route and there are major delays on the A3 near RHS Wisley, just before the M25. Second time this week apparently so I better get familiar with the hire car satnav before we set off.

Hi folks, still at secondborns.  Jonah is having a nap and I have half an eye on the figure skating.  Sorry to hear about your fall Obelisk, hope the knees have improved.

Love looking through old stuff Wonky, find it really interesting.

Your comments about tacky, glittery roses reminded me of my friends mum trying to improve on nature.  My friend received a beautiful large bouquet of roses from her boyfriend in Germany.  Her mum remarked on how it was a shame that there was not perfume and she agreed.  While she was out her mum sprayed the whole bouquet with chanel number 5 which produced large brown spots over all the roses.  Have to say my friend was not impressed.

Nice and sunny hear but absolutely freezing when I took Jonah out for a walk this morning.  Stay warm everyone.

I hope you're enjoying the grandkids Yvie.  Knees OK now thanks but only cos I found some old meds from when I had slipped discs and trapped nerves in my neck.  Bit stiff, very swollen but "feeling no pain".

10C here and not raining tho some is expected later.  Minstrel pussy is a very happy bunny as she can play outside at long last.

Obelixx, it was Lili P who was going to move a rhodo. The digging would keep her warm.

I have been busy with visiting SIL, niece and her two children.  They have gone down to a very cold and windy beach to try and tire the children out before the three hour drive home.

Oops.  Sorry both.  Hard remembering so many bits of news......

That sounds like a very good plan for the small people.  Works with dogs too.
