Sorry Dove - it's a beautiful day here too... cold though. Had to go to Manchester this morning so we did it by bus for nothing. I do like being over 27! Not keen on Manchester though. Hate shopping (except for plants) and get disorientated by all the traffic, hooting trams etc, when I have to cross the road. Now back home under the cat.
Wonky, it's great the turmeric is having an effect already. (You're right - Joyce should be on commission!) Another month signed off should help you find something more suitable... the perfect job must be out there somewhere! Same goes for Clari, too.
Pat, fingers crossed your scary and accident-prone driver sees the error of her ways and stays off the road now.
Obelixx, hope the treatment finally cures Cosmos of his sore paws. Presumably there's no value in testing him for FIV? It's relatively easily transmitted between one cat and another, sadly. We lost a moggy to it a few years ago.
I've taken Hosta's recommendation and booked to go to Hampton Court flower show this year instead of Chelsea. It's about half the price, too!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Liri - as cities go, Manchester is very easy but cities are for people who really are 27 and not like us who like greenery and clean air.
To get a decent blood sample they'd have to anaesthetise him and if he does have it there's no treatment here and he's already passed it to Minstrel who is, so far, fit and healthy and very busy. We'll wait and see how his paws go. He doesn't seem at all worried by them when he's scampering about.
I love Chelsea FS. Didn't like Hampton Court but then it was only the first or second year when I went and we had Possum in a pushchair and it was a nightmare getting to and from the car. I think it's changed a fair bit since.

Obelixx, I loved Chelsea too. I've now been 2 years running, and just fancied a change...
Re FIV. We had 2 cats, sisters from a farm, when we lived in Northumberland. When they were eight years old, one cat disappeared, & reappeared a fortnight later very thin and scraggy. She was clearly unwell and the vet did blood tests which were positive for FIV. They tested her sister, because there were lots of cats in the neighbourhood who might contract the virus - amazingly, she was negative. We were advised to euthanase the poorly cat, and did so; she might have lasted a bit longer, but this was to protect the other one - who lived to the age of 18...
Strangely, we had a similar experience with the two rescued cats we adopted here. One became very poorly with what turned out to be leukaemia and had to be put to sleep. We decided not to test her sister, since she was an indoor cat so couldn't pass it on. When she started losing weight last year the vet suggested a blood test. She doesn't have leukaemia.

Chelsea vs Hampton Court. Quite different each in their own way, I was a regular at Chelsea when I worked round the corner, & a couple of our medics used to pass their tickets round. Then it started to get too crowded and expensive (when I had to pay). Switched to HC for many years much more room different atmosphere & you can buy plants from stands all through not just at mad sell off.Two years ago got chance to go to Chelsea again & really enjoyed it. I think either is worth a go but not every year it all gets a bit much otherwise.
Sorry to hear about pussy cats. Hope all is well. We don’t have cats just now as neighbouring cats farm the mice for us but have always had them in the past. gorgeous creatures.
re JV we can’t abide the man. How can the editors let him away with so much. OH goes ballistic when he regularly quotes statistics that are wrong!
Anyone heard how Clari got on? Hope it’s good news. She deserves a decent job! Wonky you too?
Woof and I visited a new hospital today. I am always amazed at her intuitively going to those who need a cuddle.
bitterly cold again here, stay warm and safe

I think I have said before about my brothers cats. They looked really mangy, scratching away until skin was sore and bleeding. A neighbour catnapped them and took them to a vets alleging cruelty. Vet scanned them and contacted my brother. They were already under treatment by another vet. They had all sorts of expensive medication, and expensive foods. Then SIL had a lightbulb moment, and checked the food. She changed the food to a gluten free sort (cheap from lidl) and their skin cleared up no end. It seems they were allergic to gluten. It has to be worth a try.
Thanks everyone. Cosmos is fine - plump, playful, cuddly, pesky as a young kitty puss should be and clearly enjoying life. Just problem paws and possible problem cause. I shall have a look at his food tho and see if a change may help. Currently on Whiskas and Sheba, all meat. No fish. Occasional bits of cheese.
Weather turned unpleasant this pm so I stayed in and did a bit of sewing, just for a change. Altered a pair of pants - taking them in which is good - and started, at long last, sewing together the sampler patchwork blocks to make a wall hanging. It's been a long gestation.
Duck legs for dinner with a glaze of blood orange and chili jam and some Savoy cabbage from the garden and some carbs. Anyone tried Venetian black rice? It is luscious but needs a long cook.

Afternoon all.
It's been a pretty nice afternoon here. Mostly sunny but a very chilly breeze.
My 14 irises are now 52 irises.
I've been called upon for overtime, tomorrow morning and Monday afternoon. Shortest routes on both days have been promised.
I have to submit my requests for extended holiday for Nov and Jan ( 3 weeks each ) so I'm keeping in "the good books" until they say yes.
It's the weekend folks. Hurrah.
