We are currently on the MS Nordkapp heading for Tromso where we are going Dog sledding this afternoon. The ship is sailing between mountains up the Fjords. The water is somewhat protected and so it is quite calm. It got light at 9, temp minus 7, Wind enough to cut you in two, we must be mad. I look a bit like a Michelin man when I am togged up. We had Northern Lights again last night.
We have a talk by Doug Allan (Cameraman on Frozen Planet) tonight.
Me too Joyce. There are whispers that it might have been deliberately started. People reported seeing small fires at various distances from each other before it started raging. An investigation has been started. It’s beyond my thinking to work out what people are thinking about.
Obelixx I think its to do with either "start" dates, the end of the tax year, it will be a good shed, certainly NOT from the place we bought the last one, (on-line) will be looking them over thoroughly at the garden centrees.
Fidget, hope you are enjoying your trip-we did ours on the Nordkapp too. Do they still have the Jacuzzis on the deck? That is an experience.......sitting in a Jacuzzi, open to the elements, with your woolly hat on, sipping a glass of bubbly!!
Ah you've got a while more warmth yet then Hosta . Maybe it'll have warmed up here a bit by then... yucky soggy wet sleet here today and cold. I feel like hibernating.
I'd love to do that trip, Fidget. Sounds amazing and oh the Northern Lights - one day, I hope. I think OH worked with Doug Allen once - is he the guy that does underwater shoots? If it's the same chap I have a feeling it was for a TV programme about the Loch Ness Monster and he was an exceedingly nice man.
We went to Lumiere London last night but didn't see as much as we hoped. We had big plans to try and see about half of the installations, but got a bit cold and tired and decided to come home while the going was good. It was lovely, and a great community atmosphere as always, but I feel slightly frustrated. May pop back up town for an hour or so later today to try to see a few more. This is conflicting with my hibernation tendencies!
Stay cool, Pat. And I hope the fires can be controlled.

'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Just checked if I was thinking of the right person - yes, it was Doug Allen, but back in 2003! 'The Search for the Loch Ness Monster' with Steve Leonard. I have no recollection of Steve Leonard being involved.

Morning all.
I find watering in the evenings when it's hot works better, too, Pat. The plants absorb the water in the night before it dries up.
Cold and frosty here.

Woke up late to find that it's snowing. Small flakes so don't know whether it will turn to rain later.
Fidget - your trip sounds interesting and enjoyable so long as you stay warm.
Pat - I hate thinking of the destruction caused by fire.

Neither snow, nor frost, nor strong winds here.
I've got so many plans buzzing round in my head, I really need to get home and start gardening for the year.
Home to UK on 30th, but as it's late, we've a hotel booked near Gatwick so will drive back to Devon on 31st.

Hi all.
Serious blizzard here, been snowing hard since last night. It looks beautiful from inside a warm house, but not venturing out.
