    Hi all.

Horrible stormy night here and still pitch dark, not feeling inspired to do anything today.

How can you lie there and think of England

    Morning all.

We missed the blue patches, very windy. I thought the dustbins were blowing over, but it was the dustbin men!

Our last day in Norfolk, back to France tomorrow.

We raced the boat back from Mehamn to Kjollefjord, over the mountains on Skidoos.  Half way we stopped for a drink of hot juice (like weak Ribena), switched all the lights off and looked at the stars. It was a very still night, so apart from it being minus 19C, four layers of insulation meant the only cold bit was the bit on my cheeks that the balaclava didn't cover. We got back to the boat at 3 am and I slept until 11 am.  I missed breakfast but Lunch is in 10 minutes.  Very little Northern lights last night, and none on our trip, but still a fantastic experience. Part of the group did it the other way and liked it so much that they repeated it on the way back. I'm not sure I would be bothered about repeating it, but I have ticked Northern Lights, Husky sledding , and snowmobiling off of my bucket list.

    What next?

Canada for the fall(Autumn) I think.  We have an invite for a wedding in St Johns Newfoundland at the end of August. Not quite as cold. I hope we get a decent summer here before then.

Just been looking at Facebook, people have posted photos of flooding in Dordogne. Bit of a shock.

These photos are of the road to a hotel 10 mins from where I live and of a smart restaurant in Brantôme about 40 minutes from my house.

    Morning all.

I know the whole " poolside holiday " isn't for everyone, but you get to natter with the most wonderful folk from all over the place. I've has such laughter with a group of " old girls" from Yorkshire .

I too would love to see the northern lights, but I just couldn't stand the cold, nor the darkness.

We had the most wonderful meteor fly over on Sunday night. Real " fireball" stuff. Quite alarming but pretty fantastic nonetheless.

    Devon.

Mild and grey here and a bit breezy but dry so far tho rain is expected from this evening and all day tomorrow.  Fine by me as we've been and done our weekly shop a day early so I could go and get magnetic fasteners for a flap on the handbag and a new zip.  They have their sale on so I bought some lightweight wool/mohair mix pale grey suiting for possum to have a spring and summer suit and lining, and another zip and smart buttons..............

Raided a Vietnamese grocer's on the way back and am now well stocked with lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves and edamame beans and, wonder of wonders, some fresh pak choi and Thai basil.  They have banana leaves too so I shall be diving in my recipe books for Chinese NY in Feb.

All sorts of bulbs sprouting here but most just in tubs or buckets with compost where I dumped them when emptying pots.  I'll get to the later next week when I'm back from "dressing" Possum.

On the whole, I'm with Hosta are the extreme cold and would happily go and do another few days at Uluru to see the stars and meteorites.   Looking forward to the Wold moon on the 31st too and will get a good view from here unless we have clouds.

Busy - I hope your home is OK and the garden and paddocks too.  Have a safe journey tomorrow.

Pdoc - hope it's a bit lighter for you now.

Dove - I can pivot but not swerve.  Question of toes and knees.

Joyce - THANK YOU.  Feet already feeling tons less tender and twingy and I can stand on my tip toes without anything complaining after just 10 days on the curcuma.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
