Lovely GD .....I love it that we all keep the things the little ones made, plus memories of the older generation too.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Christmas.  Thank you Wonky, for setting up this thread - its given me lots of smiles imageimageimage

I love Christmas too. What a cheerful thread this is.

    Here is the tree.

Guernseydonkey, that's a lovely tree! Love the decorations! And your dresser looks a real festive focus point. I'm really enjoying seeing all the different styles, colours and hearing the sentiment behind our traditions.

BusyL! Thats a lovely tree and showcased in a lovely bright room! The balcony must have been handy for reaching to put on the star! image

Thank you Chicky  image I really try to hold on to the things that bring us all together, don't like the modern world and love traditions that come with this time of year! Makes me happy! BusyL, Glad you are getting cheered by everyone sharing their Christmas on here, me too!

  • I've enjoyed looking at this thread, but haven't got anything much to contribute yet..

Our daughter is working over Christmas this year and is devastated at missing Christmas at home for the first time ever , but she has time off after, so Christmas here is going to be the 10th of Januaryimage

I am holding off on the decs so I don't get too bored with them before it comes. I am going to make some arrangements of greenery etc as I usually do, but in the New Year, and there is a little conifer in a pot outside that can be dressed up for a day or two inside without coming to major harmimage.

Not quite our usual arrangement, but as she said, for us it has never been the day as such that was special, just our family rituals and being together. Like most of you, we have old favourites that come out year after year and add a new one now and again. My brother lives in Prague, so we have bought some pretty wooden traditional Czech decs at the market when visiting - they sell them in the summer as well as at Christmas!

    That looks lovely, DHR.

I've been taking down most of the decorations this morning. I need OH's help with the tree and the outside lights so they'll have to wait until the weekend. So that the tree doesn't look weird or sad, I'm leaving it decorated and a few other bits and pieces in the living room. Everything else is down and about to be boxed.

But I really really don't want to take the tree down image. It's a lovely tree, has lasted well, the lights haven't given up and I just really like it! I am normally ready by now.
