  • Christmas Eve here for decorations although I won't judge (very harshly) those who do it earlier for their own reasons. image No tree but garlands and other bits and pieces. (image when I bought my house the sitting room was painted a vile colour and the chimney breast was bright red. I changed the rest of the room but left the chimney breast red especially for Christmas as the room is only used in the Winter months. Everyone complains ...until the decs go up! image image).

I suppose we all have our own traditions and it's nice to adapt to change and tweak them now and again. My SIL has recently begun having a "riff-raff" dinner on boxing day when all the randomers who don't really fit anywhere else have the best day out of the whole year! image You know the table at the wedding where you put the odds? That's us!!! image Nobody has a proper title as we're all exes and in-laws and the ages range from 13-81. The old party games are played on "young peoples' devices" image It's brilliant!!!

To any Bah Humbu**ers who happen by, Christmas is going to happen whether you like it or not. Make the best of it!

Clari your decor is gorge! When I was little I wanted my bedroom painted that colour! ( the colour of the late evening sky I thought). When I grew up I did it!!!! image

I have succumbed! The nativity scent is out of the loft and I’m tempted?

our midnight mass is at 7.30pm this year, not quite the same but don’t want to be following a star and journeying afar for a later one. ?

Wonky,  of course you can keep your tree until Easter and put eggs on it, I work in plenty of churchyards where people can’t be bothered to put the Christmas wreaths in the bin after.

I spend a lot of time gathering them up around Easter time when people can’t be bothered.

That's lovely Hogweed! You have inspired me and I'm going to see if I can find some holly to cut at work and bring home, couldn't have a wreath on the old flats door, anything that wasn't cemented in place got pinched! But now our door is in our enclosed garden, no problem!

Love the blue and silver colours image

Thanks Lyn image birthday trees sound a fab plan! Would you mind just explaining our reasoning to my hubby please?image

The pots at the door are blue hence my rather un Christmassy colour scheme!

Hogweed, living in Ipswich, as I do for my sins, the silver/blue combo is highly praised in this area due to it being the festive version of the football team, not wanting to be associated with Ipswich or its football team, I just opt for extra tacky when it comes to decor! image

  • Outside lights now up but suffering with hot ache in the fingers while my hands warm up.  Will be putting the tree up in the living room later when OH goes to work - should lift her spirits after having to go in on a saturday.  Will take some photos later. image

Bobthegardener, I'm sure a Christmas tree is just the thing to cheer anyone that has to work on a Saturday! image I know it would work for me!

Glenys, that sounds like a really special occasion to look forward to! I hope you have a lovely Christmas!
