Our alarm usually goes off at this time of year. The spiders just play havoc. Before we went away I dusted and we squirted with fly killer as we went out, but they still went off. Having had years of being on call for burglar alarms, I don't miss it one bit. Even when I wasn't first call. I was usually the one the manager called.
Water is coming out of the front of the shop what do I do.. ? Turn off the water . I'll get my wellies and a camera (for the insurance people). Nottingham to Coventry, 40 minutes at 4 am.
The back door is off its hinges, they've used a wheely bin as a battering ram. First we had to fix the door frame back to the wall and then get it boarded.
There is no glass in the entire shop front and a hole in the ceiling, the flat had its door forced and the carpet and floorboards taken up. The sole policeman in the middle of Lincolnshire on duty that night, and his panda car got beaten up. The culprits got away scot free. One of the locals dogs got the seat of one of the burglars pants. They left behind a bag with his name and address and a bail notice from Penzance magistrates court. The police still never caught them. We had the TV crews out for that one.
We did turn off all the light when we left didn't we? Only the police called me out for the alarm, the doors are still locked, but the lights are on and there is a hole in the false roof. (There were also a lot of actual roof tiles missing)
The other seven plate glass windows put in and a back door forced became quite boring.
The sad thing is, what got stolen was a pittance compared to the aggro and cost of putting the damage right.
Lovely sunny day here, but bitterly cold in the wind.
We have just been for a short stroll round the Botanical Gardens, lovely Autumn colours, a vast array of berries and lots still flowering, the Heperanthas, in particular looking great.
had to stop every 100 yards for a rest, but still lovely.
I have managed to persuade OH, who is more stubborn than me [ yes really ], that she is in no fit state to work at the moment and needs a few days off.
Glad to see you are having fun Chicky.
Has anyone seen Clari?
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Well, we've just been up to the farm shop again ... this time with police CSI forensics etc. There was a break in ...to the farm shop office at the back ... they took the safe but fortunately the owners had taken the day's takings home and it only had £500 cash float in it. The thieves must've been expecting a great deal more as it had been the annual pre xmas food fair and turkey tasting ...
It must've all been over by the time we got there . Thank goodness OH stuck to instructions from the former owner to just check the main doors etc and not to go down the side passage to the office .. if they'd still been there he'd have been very vulnerable. The police said he'd done the right thing.
The Sunday staff have opened up the shop and are doing the best they can without a float ... the owners are at home and the police have gone to see them.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
That’s very worrying for you and OH, Dove. Do they have a hidden camera?
I had a call from our neighbour who has the pasture across the river. They’ve found blood and are missing two of their spring lambs. The neighbour was asking if we’d seen or heard anything out of the ordinary, but I don’t imagine it was done in daylight. Some people are rotten!

Hope Lizzie’s day gets better
Had a fab first day in Adelaide - Chicklet showed us round her new town - which is lovely ??.
Quick question for Pat ....the streets are full of a gorgeous purple tree in flower now ....what is it please?
Tomorrow we get a ferry to Kangaroo island .....hoping to spot one or two of the fellas
Looks like Jacaranda, Chicky. I can’t focus very closely. Are there any seed pods yet - probably too soon. If so, I can sent a photo of a seed pod.

Pdoc. I am sure both of you will feel the benefit of your stroll. Nature can be very calming

makes me mad.
Was it people who took them? Here it would probably be more likely to be an animal.
Granddaughter's have had a sleep, so has son. I've had a chat with OH on the phone. Rain has stopped and there is a glimpse of sunshine.
Glad that Dove's OH wasn't hurt. Good that the owners took the takings. Do they live nearby? I'm a bit surprised they are still at home.
Yes, BusyL. There was no sign of fleece or innards etc just a small bit of blood (probably swift knife work).
Must close now, it’s after1am.
Catch up tomorrow.
