Have to agree with Raisin Girl, you learn here not to grow tall plants, put all pot and tubs behind something, the trees that were reaching the bungalow are now kept cut, we did lose the shed roof but as said, it was doomed anyway.
Having said that, the sky is the most horrible yellowGrey shade and the lights are on in the bungalow.
The worst of the wind here comes from the North West, straight off the Moor, then you do have to nail things down, fortunately we don’t get many of those.
Clari, I was in a similar situation, I will send you a PM though, but I dare say you have been inundated with PM’s ?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Sadly no, it wasn't healing, so he had his leg amputated on Friday. He's doing OK but very confused.
They shoot over our roof so we have to get all our dogs used to it as it's extremely loud. We don't get problems with relentless fireworks being out in The Sticks, but the shoot and the stag hounds between them make up for it. At least it's normally a much shorter duration though - 20 minutes of bang banging or half an hour of baying and braying, and then they're gone for a week or two.

Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon

Rgirl ... sorry to hear about your dog ((hugs)) . Wonky had a three legged cat (front leg amputated following a stroke) who learned to cope incredibly well ... I hope your dog does the same.
Friends in N. Cornwall are usually very good about keeping house/shed in good repair and hatches well battened down, but they are right on top of the highest bit above St Agnes ... if anyone catches the wind they will. The house has withstood many a storm, but a garden shed is a garden shed
They're part of a Community Garden scheme ... all hatches there have been battened etc and they're keeping their fingers crossed re the polytunnels

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Back from vets - the kittens are ready for neutering so booked in for Wednesday (sshhh - don't tell them!).
The sky looks very strange - yellow-grey. I might move my potted Acers into a corner as I would like to see their beautifully coloured leaves for a bit longer.
Hope your dog will be ok raisingirl - what a worrying time for you.
So sorry you've been ill punkdoc. Such a shame, Sicily is lovely.
I hope all in the West are OK.
I hope Raisingirl's dog manages to cope OK after his operation.
I've just sent another email with photos of damaged carpets and furniture from the flood to the Insurance. I just don't know what to do next or who to contact and what the Insurance will pay for. I have had no help from them and nothing in writing.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Morning all.
Ominous yellow sky here too RG.
No doubt there will be lots of leaf clearing when Ophelia has passed. Nothing to the damage that may be caused in Ireland.
It will be interesting to know your house's history Obelixx

Good morning all , in Swindon at moment
Hope all’s well
Morning all, blowy , but nothing exceptional.
My banana has dug itself out for winter storage .
Hi all
I am sure Sicily is wonderful, but I have not really seen it. Have been in bed for 10 days, with unknown illness.
at the moment I am terrified, and am just hoping they allow me to board a plane home tonight.
sorry if I am over sharing, but I cannot recommend the feeling of constant impending doom.
hope to be in touch on my return, depending on hospital admission
