Misty start today but bright and sunny now.   Carpenters here again so dogs confined to barracks till lunchtime and me keeping company.  OH is off to get new tyres for Harry who has been an expensive boy lately.  700€ for new brakes a couple of weeks ago and the other pair of tyres in July.  Still, should be all set for a run to Bilbao on Monday.

DD - love an apple cinnamon cake but don't go anywhere near andouillettes and OH is banned form eating them in my presence.  Certain cheeses too!

Dove - how have you managed that?  We bought a teeny one at a primary school fair years ago - raffle prize maybe - and it flowers sporadically, not often, but beautifully but has mostly grown rather large.  It has feeding sticks and watering as necessary.

DL- chill.  Cuddle your dog and then a cat or two.   MIL is precious to your OH and she'll be back soon.

Lovely skinks Pat.  We still have a few teeny lizards scurrying about but very shy.

Off to sew now.  Jacket/coat to make.  An experiment.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Dove, have you really eaten true French andouillettes? ...

Oh yes BL, I've eaten them in Bouillon Chartier in Paris and many other places ... absolutely love them.  We go to Brasserie Zedel in London around my birthday and my choice for main course is always andouillettes (imported from Paris) ........ in fact my usual meal is steak tartare followed by andouillettes and then illes flottantes .......  absolute heaven.  https://www.brasseriezedel.com/brasserie-zedel

They live on a north facing landing windowsill above a radiator ... they get re-potted with fresh compost every other year, and a larger pot if needed ... they spend all summer from the end of May until the end of September outside on the terrace in a shady corner being totally  ignored ... dependent on the weather for watering  ... when they come in they usually have tiny flower buds already ... When flowering they get watered weekly but I don't think I've ever fed them other than what's in the fifty-fifty mix of MPC / JI No 2  that they seem happy with.   They have copper tape around the pots to keep the snails off when they're  outside.

Cheers Ob .....you are right ....but you are the one who taught me to say BH image

May I ask you a question  .....is this true ?

I believe the french have a saying along the lines of "a politician is like Andouillette", which I think roughly equates to "you must expect a little sh%t" image

All the more for me Hosta image   It's quiet at this end of the village this week ... there's a school at the top of the next road. image

About a year ago we put a robin-type nest box among the Clematis Freckles on the trellis at right angles with our sitting room window ... for the past few days a robin has been fossicking around in it's vicinity ... fingers crossed for next spring image

Crikey Dove, that is my idea of revolting! Don't like totally raw steak, don't like eggs image I've been to Brasserie Zedel, on your recommendation. Loved it but didn't have that.

    Good morning all.

You've been chatty while I've been coughing... actually, coughing rather less than previously, but it's time it WENT.  There are leaves to rake up & I don't yet feel up to it - though I did manage to get to the shops yesterday, so there is definite improvement.  image

Sorry, I'm with the image brigade for your favourite meal, Dove, though no doubt, being "well brought up", I would manage to eat it if presented with it... even the iles flottantes don't sound like my cup of tea.  Give me a fruity dessert (lemon is best, but others will do) any time for preference.  It's a good thing we're all different, isn't it!

DL, hope you manage to exist harmoniously with your MIL until BH returns.  Talking to the cats is highly recommended.  image

I might feel inspired to make an apple and cinnamon cake later... thanks, DD!  image
