They look like they're after his brains :o

Getting the hang of the new camera a bit now. I caught this blackbird stealing my woodlice.

A Green Hairstreak on a fern frond, such a small butterfly, but incredibly swift when on the wing, and it's a gorgeous colour too.

Butterflies are so hard to photograph. A couple of years ago I found this ringlet butterfly in the greenhouse. It was sat perfectly on the table with a nice dark background. I snuck up as carefully as I could moving slowly and taking my time, then I used the table to steady the camera and managed to get this photo. I was so impressed with my stalking skills and patience. Then to be kind I decided to catch the butterfly to release it outside. Turns out it was dead all along...

Haha.. awful, bit ironic.  What a beautiful image.  I never seen to have a camera to hand when I find critters in my garden.  Last night I found a swallowtail setting in for a nights sleep on my roses.. and this morning my resident garter snake was soaking up the sun under the very same rose.  She was looking rather fat, so either found plenty of worms to snack on or is pregnant.  We usually have babies in the garden each year.. cutest little things.  They do give me a shock when weeding though, they like the veg beds for hunting.

Thanks Joyce...nature is indeed wonderful, to produce such a little jewel like the Green Hairstreak is something very special.

Nice shot, WE...shame it was dead.
