Gorgeous water vole shots! We used to call them water rats back in the 60's when they were plentiful in local streams which fed into Loch Lomond which we fished illegally >:). We would forage in the burn for caddis fly larvae which we used as bait to try to catch  brown trout.

You - fishing illegally steephill? Surely not?

Gorgeous pix Sheps. I watched something recently that had a good item on water voles. Can't recall what it was unfortunately  :/
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks Fairy...they are very endearing little creatures and great to watch, especially when collecting food.

    Fab Sheps.
A few years ago, we had them in our stream, but sadly the local cats dispatched them.
How can you lie there and think of England

Thanks very much, punkdoc and scroggin....Mink were the main concern at this site, almost to the point where the Water Voles were nearly wiped out, then most of the Mink were trapped and a reintroduction program put in place to reinstate the voles.

I’m sat taking pics on my phone of this Emperor laying eggs! I feel so privileged! It’s been here best part of an hour now!
