Thanks for the photo Fairy. Think I'd rather run a BBQ than go on a 9 hr walk in the hills! Often too hot for hiking here anyway. Had that problem when I used to ride, would have to get up very early to avoid the heat and the flies. I'm not a morning person!
We are off to Norfolk on Thursday. Wonder if if's worth dead heading the plants in the pots before we go? The week we get back my violas and daisies will arrive.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
It was tough, but probably not as bad as I had feared, and all our joints held up (that was my biggest worry - knew I had the stamina, but didn't know if my knees, ankles and toes would support me in this rather crazy quest). We had fantastic weather - sun, but not too warm and a great breeze. And it was a stunning walk in terms of sea views, idyllic villages with country cottage gardens ?, pretty little churches, rivers, cliffs, rolling fields .....it had it all.
And we raised lots for the charity - cancer beat my Mum when she was far too young to go - anything that will help beat that disease has got to be a good cause.
So hear are a few reminders of the day - I got a medal ?
My new best friends:
Beachy head - this was after 23 miles, so we viewed that hill with some trepidation, having just climbed up, over, and down the seven sisters ( of which, by the way, I swear there were eight .....unless I was hallucinating )
Fabulous chicky - I've replied to you messsage too
Hey - did you nick my poles? Yours look a wee bit cleaner than mine....
Glorious views and lovely skies, sea and sun. How many folk were doing it besides the three of you?
BL - the heat isn't too much of an issue when you're at that altitude, but it can be draining at lower levels, especially if you have a long walk in like that one. You don't realise how often you stop until you check the GPS either - I stopped for two hours in total. Necessary for taking photos of course - absolutely no other reason....
Joyce - that pic was from the junction of the ridges between Binnein Mor (my first summit - on the right) and Na Gruagaichean which is out of shot along to the left. Nevis / Carn mor Dearg/Aonachs are in the middle and The Ring of Steall is on the left. It was quite busy, but on a good day at this time of year, that's to be expected. There are so many options for doing them too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Well done to both Busy and Chicky? So pleased it went well and looks like you had perfect weather for it Chicky. Cracking photo from you too FG.
Glad you had a good long rest Hosta. Me too - went to bed at 10pm feeling dodgy. Woke at 2am to find lights still on and Possum watching a film on her PC downstairs. Huge TV available right in front of her with no eye or neck strain. Go figure. Back to bed and slept till 8am feeling a mite better.
Pat - I understand your worry.
We have a cards drawer so I don't usually lose cards but I do keep finding presents I've bought for Possum and hidden somewhere 'safe'. The kind to give as wee surprises on birthdays or as stocking fillers at Xmas.
Dull, grey and cool here and just enough rain spots for me to count them landing on my cheeks as I emptied out the last of the tomato pots and potted on the peppers to make them last a bit longer. So much for the 13mm they've promised - again.
I have the sprinkler out doing 30 minutes on the new sunny bed and then it'll be 30 minutes on the shady bed. Might give them more as it has to last till I'm back on Thursday and OH will only do pots.
Cleaning to do now and packing for our wee trip. Catch you later.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I don't understand that either re the tv Obs, although my two don't tend to watch telly in the way we would have done at their age anyway. Different times and all that
Hope you get some decent rain soon. I take it badly when I have to water pots, apart from ones which need a feed or any special attention, of course. Even in summer

Well done, Chicky, a really worthwhile thing to have done.
